Airport Transfers from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) to Richmond

1-12 passengers For business
Trusted by professionals at
One-Way Transfer
A one-way transfer covers one journey between two addresses: Terminal 2 to a hotel by Richmond Bridge, Terminal 4 to a house near the gates of Richmond Park, or a flat by the Green to Terminal 5 after a night at the theatre. For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time; for a departure, you set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
Round-Trip Service
Round-Trip Service books both directions in one reservation: Terminal 3 to a hotel on Richmond Hill for a week of garden visits with the return to Terminal 3 seven days later, or Terminal 5 to a family flat by Richmond Green for Christmas and out again in the new year. When England play at home in the Six Nations, local cars are taken early. With both directions in one booking, the return is secured from the start; you set both pick-up times yourself, and the confirmation lists them.
Hourly Service
Hourly service keeps one chauffeur and one vehicle with you for a set number of hours. When you book, you set the start at LHR, the final address and the hours you need, and you add the day's plan to the reservation so the chauffeur has it before your flight lands. It suits an arrival day with appointments, not a straight run to one hotel.

London Heathrow Airport to Richmond: Route and Drive Time

Richmond is east of the airport, on a bend of the Thames. The drive from the terminals to Richmond is 10 miles, normally 40–55 minutes. The route crosses built-up suburbs, and the A316, the town's only dual carriageway, brings you in through Old Deer Park, so the time depends on traffic more than on distance.

The last stretch is decided by where you stay. Hotels and houses on Richmond Hill look over the Thames from a view protected by its own Act of Parliament; the streets around Richmond Green and the theatre form the centre; and the riverside runs down to Richmond Bridge, completed in 1777.

Journey times vary with traffic and weather. Put the terminal in the booking, with the hotel name or the full street address.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at London Heathrow Airport

Heathrow handled a record 84.5 million passengers in 2025 across four terminals, 2, 3, 4 and 5. Give your terminal in the booking and the car goes there. Heathrow does not allow pick-ups on the terminal forecourts; collections take place from the terminal car parks.

While you fly, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pick-up rules.

If you land at Terminal 4, be aware that redevelopment work closed its multi-storey car park on 23 June 2026, and pick-ups at that terminal have moved to a separate area, which your confirmation takes into account. Richmond station has District line, London Overground and South Western Railway trains, but none of them starts at the airport.

Arriving at Your Address in Richmond

The borough of Richmond upon Thames takes its name from this town. Richmond Park, on the high ground above, covers 2,360 acres, which makes it London's largest royal park; Charles I enclosed it in 1634, and its herds of red and fallow deer number more than 600. Two theatres are in the centre: Richmond Theatre on Little Green, designed by Frank Matcham, and the Orange Tree.

Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. For a Richmond Hill hotel, its name will do; for a flat near the Green or a house in a lane by the river, add the house number and any access notes.

If you plan a walk in the park on the day you arrive, the chauffeur can take you to your address first so the luggage stays behind.

From Richmond Back to London Heathrow Airport

For the return, plan on a drive of 40–55 minutes and add margin before a morning flight. You set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Your ticket shows the departure terminal. Terminals 4 and 5 are separate from the central Terminals 2 and 3, and the drive between them takes time, so the right number in the booking matters.

Rugby internationals at Allianz Stadium in neighbouring Twickenham bring heavy traffic on match days. England's Six Nations home games are on 14 February, 20 February and 13 March 2027; if your flight leaves on a match day, set off earlier than usual.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your airport transfer with Bookinglane.

How far is Richmond from Heathrow?

By road, Richmond is 10 miles from the terminals, normally 40–55 minutes. Include your terminal and the hotel or street address when you book.

What happens if my Heathrow arrival is delayed past midnight?

The pick-up moves with it. The chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time, so a late night does not need a new booking. Just check that the booking shows the current flight number.

At which point of Heathrow does my chauffeur pick me up?

It depends on the terminal you land at. Heathrow does not allow pick-ups on the terminal forecourts; collections take place from the terminal car parks. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pick-up rules.

Is Richmond Park close to Richmond town centre?

Yes. The park lies directly above the town, past the top of Richmond Hill. It covers 2,360 acres and is the largest royal park in London; if you want to be dropped at a gate after landing, give its name or the nearest street in the booking.

Our garden club of 20 is flying in to visit Kew. How should we book?

Twenty members landing together can share a coach with up to 56 seats. Anyone arriving on another plane is booked separately. When you book for other people, all their transfers can be kept in one account, each with its own booking and confirmation.

What do you need to know about London Heathrow Airport in 2026–2027?

Heathrow set a record of 84.5 million passengers in 2025. Rail services to the Terminals 2 and 3 station were suspended on 25 June 2026, and the airport's expansion consultation runs from 27 October to 22 December 2026.
