Airport Transfers from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) to Reading

One-Way Transfer
A one-way transfer covers one journey between two addresses: Terminal 5 to a business in Thames Valley Park, Terminal 3 to a hall of residence at the University of Reading, or a house in Caversham to Terminal 4 ahead of an overnight long-haul flight. For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time; for a departure, you set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
Round-Trip Service
Round-Trip Service books both directions in one reservation: Terminal 2 to a Green Park hotel for five days of client meetings, and back to Terminal 2 on Friday afternoon, or Terminal 5 to a university hall as term begins and back again when it ends. Over the August bank holiday weekend, local cars go early. With both directions in one booking, the return is secured from the start; you set both pick-up times yourself, and the confirmation lists them.
Hourly Service
Hourly service keeps one chauffeur and one vehicle with you for a set number of hours. When you book, you set the start at LHR, the final address and the hours you need, and you add the day's plan to the reservation so the chauffeur has it before your flight lands. It suits an arrival day with appointments, not a straight run to one hotel.

London Heathrow Airport to Reading: Route and Drive Time

Reading, the county town of Berkshire, lies due west of Heathrow along the M4. The drive from the terminals is 29 miles, normally 55 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes, and the M4 carries the car for most of it, from near the airport to one of the Reading junctions.

Because the M4 passes the southern side of the town, the exit depends on the address. Green Park business park is on the southern edge, Thames Valley Park is in neighbouring Earley to the east. The town centre, with The Oracle and the ruins of Reading Abbey, is reached by the roads running north from the motorway.

Journey times vary with traffic and weather. Name your business park, hall of residence or street in the booking, as each one has a different approach.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at London Heathrow Airport

Heathrow's four terminals, 2, 3, 4 and 5, each have their own car parks for collections. Heathrow does not allow pick-ups on the terminal forecourts; collections take place from the terminal car parks. Give your terminal in the booking and the car goes there.

For your arrival, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pick-up rules.

Reading is the western terminus of the Elizabeth line, but its trains do not run into the airport: the Heathrow branch leaves the main line at Hayes & Harlington, so the rail journey needs a change. Since 25 June 2026 the station under Terminals 2 and 3 has been shut as well, which leaves the car as the one-seat option.

Arriving at Your Address in Reading

For a business trip, the address may be on one of the business parks: Arlington Business Park, Green Park or Thames Valley Park in Earley. Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up; on a business park, add the building name.

The University of Reading draws students, families and academics all year. For a hall of residence on moving-in day, include the hall name as well as the street.

With an early landing and an afternoon appointment at Green Park, a hotel close to the motorway junction keeps both journeys short.

From Reading Back to London Heathrow Airport

Plan for a drive of 55 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes in normal traffic. Eastbound, the M4 fills with commuters in the morning, so an early flight means sharing it with the rush hour. You set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Name the terminal you fly from when you book, because Terminal 5 and Terminal 4 lie on different sides of the airport and the route in differs.

Reading Festival is planned for Thursday 26 to Sunday 29 August 2027 on its Richfield Avenue site beside the Thames. If you fly out on the Monday after it, roads around the site and the town centre can be busier, so leave an extra margin.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your airport transfer with Bookinglane.

How far is Reading from Heathrow Airport?

Reading is 29 miles by road, normally 55 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes, from the Heathrow terminals. The route is the M4 for most of the way.

My flight to Heathrow lands after midnight. Will a car still come?

Yes. The chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time, at any hour. The chauffeur goes by the flight number in your booking.

How will I find my chauffeur after landing at Heathrow?

Go to the car park of your arrival terminal. Heathrow does not allow pick-ups on the terminal forecourts; collections take place from the terminal car parks. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pick-up rules.

Is there a direct train from Heathrow to Reading?

No. Reading is the western end of the Elizabeth line, but airport trains use a separate branch that joins the main line at Hayes & Harlington, so you change on the way. By car the drive is direct along the M4.

Several international students are arriving for the start of term. How should they book?

Each flight needs its own transfer, and every booking can sit in one account. List the suitcases for a year away; enter the number of bags in the booking form; for golf bags, bikes or other bulky items, tell support so the vehicle is matched to the load.

What do you need to know about Reading in 2026–2027?

Reading Festival 2027 is planned for 26–29 August at Little John's Farm. At Heathrow, the Terminals 2 and 3 station has been shut since 25 June 2026, so rail journeys to those terminals involve a change at Terminal 4 or 5.
