Airport Transfers from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) to Kew

Trusted by professionals at
One-Way Transfer
A one-way transfer covers one journey between two addresses: Terminal 3 to a flat by Kew Gardens station, Terminal 4 to The National Archives for a first day of reading, or a guest house near the gardens to Terminal 5 when the visit ends. For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time; for a departure, you set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
Round-Trip Service
Round-Trip Service books both directions in one reservation: Terminal 2 to a home by Kew Green when you fly in and Terminal 2 again when you fly out, or Terminal 5 to lodgings near The National Archives for a week of research and the reverse trip at its end. In the garden season, local cars are reserved early. With both directions in one booking, the return is secured from the start; you set both pick-up times yourself, and the confirmation lists them.
Hourly Service
Hourly service keeps one chauffeur and one vehicle with you for a set number of hours. When you book, you set the start at LHR, the final address and the hours you need, and you add the day's plan to the reservation so the chauffeur has it before your flight lands. It suits an arrival day with appointments, not a straight run to one hotel.

London Heathrow Airport to Kew: Route and Drive Time

Kew faces Brentford across the Thames, and the drive to it from the airport's terminals is 11 miles, normally 35–50 minutes. The car heads east on the M4 and the A4 towards Chiswick, then crosses the river at Kew Bridge.

Kew is small, so the last part of the trip comes down to which side of the district you need. Kew Green and the houses around it are by the bridge; the Royal Botanic Gardens fill most of the riverside; The National Archives has its own site, and Kew Gardens station is a separate address again.

Journey times vary with traffic and weather. Put your terminal in the booking together with the address, or the name of the garden gate you want.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at London Heathrow Airport

Heathrow uses Terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5. Many Star Alliance airlines fly from Terminal 2, British Airways from Terminal 5, though allocations are under review, so go by your ticket. Give your terminal in the booking and the car goes there.

Heathrow does not allow pick-ups on the terminal forecourts; collections take place from the terminal car parks. For your arrival, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pick-up rules.

The fast trains from the airport, Heathrow Express and the Elizabeth line, both run to Paddington, which is north of Kew and the wrong direction. Reaching Kew by rail means at least one change.

Arriving at Your Address in Kew

Kew belongs to the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. The botanic gardens, on UNESCO's list since 2003, spread over 326 acres, with the Palm House, the Temperate House and Kew Palace inside the grounds.

Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. For the gardens, name the gate. For The National Archives, use the Archives as the drop-off address rather than the nearest street.

Researchers who fly in to read original records at the Archives sometimes land early and want to start the same day. The car can drop your bags at a hotel first, or take you straight to the reading rooms with your luggage.

From Kew Back to London Heathrow Airport

Leaving Kew, allow 35–50 minutes for the ride to the terminals in normal traffic, and more if you set off in the weekday peak, when the A4 and the M4 are busy heading west. You set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Add the departure terminal to the booking: Terminal 5 is the furthest west of the four, beyond the central Terminals 2 and 3.

On spring and summer weekends, the gardens bring extra cars to the streets around Kew Green and the station. If your flight is on such a day, plan the pick-up a little earlier.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your airport transfer with Bookinglane.

Is it a long ride from Heathrow to Kew Gardens?

Kew is 11 miles from the terminals, normally 35–50 minutes by car, along the M4 and over Kew Bridge. Give your terminal and the gate or address in the booking.

If my flight into Heathrow is late, will I miss my pick-up?

No. The chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time, so a later landing simply means a later pick-up. Keep the flight number in your booking accurate.

Where should I look for the car after landing at Heathrow?

Collections are made in the car parks of each terminal: Heathrow does not allow pick-ups on the terminal forecourts; collections take place from the terminal car parks. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pick-up rules.

Is Kew in London?

Yes. Kew lies in south-west London and is governed by Richmond upon Thames borough council. Apart from the botanic gardens, Kew hosts The National Archives, where government records are kept.

Our garden club of 20 is visiting Kew. How do we travel from Heathrow?

A van holds 12, so twenty members need a coach or a pair of vans; include every suitcase in the request. Members arriving on other flights each need their own transfer, all kept in one account.

What do you need to know about London Heathrow Airport in 2026–2027?

No trains have served Terminals 2 and 3 since 25 June 2026; rail travellers start from Terminal 4 or 5 instead. Consultation on a bigger Heathrow is scheduled for 27 October to 22 December 2026. Kew Gardens reported 2,250,355 visitors in 2025.
