Airport Transfers from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) to Kensington

One-Way Transfer
A one-way transfer covers one journey between two addresses: Terminal 3 to a hotel behind the Natural History Museum, Terminal 4 to the Hyatt Regency at Olympia, or a mews house near Kensington Palace to Terminal 5 for a midday flight. For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time; for a departure, you set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
Round-Trip Service
Round-Trip Service books both directions in one reservation: Terminal 5 to a hotel off the High Street on arrival and the same terminal after a week in the city, or Terminal 2 to a hotel at Olympia for a trade show and back when the stands come down. In the Proms season, cars in the district go early. With both directions in one booking, the return is secured from the start; you set both pick-up times yourself, and the confirmation lists them.
Hourly Service
Hourly service keeps one chauffeur and one vehicle with you for a set number of hours. When you book, you set the start at LHR, the final address and the hours you need, and you add the day's plan to the reservation so the chauffeur has it before your flight lands. It suits an arrival day with appointments, not a straight run to one hotel.

London Heathrow Airport to Kensington: Route and Drive Time

Kensington is in west-central London, and from the Heathrow terminals it is 14 miles by road, normally 40–55 minutes. The car comes in from the west on the M4 and the A4, past Chiswick and Hammersmith, so the district is reached before the heavier traffic of central London.

Kensington is large enough that the end point changes the last part of the drive. Olympia is on the western edge, Kensington High Street runs through the middle, Kensington Palace and Kensington Gardens are to the east, and South Kensington, with its museums and the Royal Albert Hall, lies to the south.

Journey times vary with traffic and weather. In the booking, give the terminal and the hotel or street address, not just the district name.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at London Heathrow Airport

Your flight uses one of Heathrow's four terminals, 2, 3, 4 or 5. Give your terminal in the booking and the car goes there. Heathrow does not allow pick-ups on the terminal forecourts; collections take place from the terminal car parks.

While you are in the air, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pick-up rules.

Heathrow Express normally runs from Terminals 2 and 3 to Paddington in about 15 minutes, but that station is closed at present, and Paddington still leaves you a further journey to Kensington. With children and cases, a car to the hotel is the simpler choice.

Arriving at Your Address in Kensington

Kensington and Chelsea is a royal borough, and Kensington is the district in its name that comes first. Hotels are spread between Kensington High Street, the streets behind the museums and the new Olympia site, where the Hyatt Regency London Olympia and citizenM have opened.

Many addresses are mews houses, garden squares and hotel side entrances. For one of these, send the full address with the booking and we will tell you how close the car can go.

A family planning dinosaurs or rockets on the day they land does best with a hotel in South Kensington, where the three big national museums stand within a short walk of each other.

From Kensington Back to London Heathrow Airport

For the trip back, plan on the drive length: 40–55 minutes normally, and more after about four in the afternoon, when traffic streams west out of London. You set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Give your departure terminal in the booking. Terminal 4 sits on the airport's southern side, away from the other three, so the right terminal changes the last few minutes of the drive.

During the Proms season at the Royal Albert Hall and on big exhibition days at Olympia, evening traffic thickens around those venues. If you are flying out next day, an early departure from the hotel is better than leaving it late.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your airport transfer with Bookinglane.

How many minutes is Kensington from Heathrow by car?

The district is 14 miles from the terminals, normally 40–55 minutes by car. The A4 decides where in that range you land, so include your terminal and the exact hotel.

Our flight into Heathrow is delayed and we have young children. Will the car be there?

Yes. The chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time, so the delay does not leave you without a car. Request child seats in the booking form and keep the flight number current.

Does the chauffeur meet passengers inside the terminal at Heathrow?

Collections are from the car park: Heathrow does not allow pick-ups on the terminal forecourts; collections take place from the terminal car parks. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pick-up rules.

Is Kensington inside the Congestion Charge zone?

No. The Western Extension that covered Kensington was removed on 4 January 2011, and the zone now starts east of Park Lane. The Ultra Low Emission Zone covers every London borough around the clock. The rules and current rates of each charge are published by the authority or airport that runs it.

A school group of 30 is visiting the museums. How do they get from Heathrow?

A group of 30 travels by coach, which has up to 56 seats; say how many children and teachers are travelling and how much luggage they have. Pupils or staff travelling separately are each given a transfer of their own.

What do you need to know about London Heathrow Airport in 2026–2027?

The Heathrow station for Terminals 2 and 3 has been shut since 25 June 2026. At Olympia, the redeveloped squares and streets opened to the public on 15 June 2026, and a 1,575-seat theatre is due in 2027.
