Airport Transfers from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) to Ilford

Trusted by professionals at
One-Way Transfer
A one-way transfer covers one journey between two addresses: Terminal 2 to a hotel on the High Road, Terminal 5 to King George Hospital in Goodmayes, or a house near Valentines Park to Terminal 4 for a night flight. For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time; for a departure, you set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
Round-Trip Service
Round-Trip Service books both directions in one reservation: Terminal 3 to a family home in Gants Hill at the start of the Christmas holidays, and back to Heathrow in the new year. Over Christmas and during large shows at ExCeL, cars in Redbridge are spoken for early. With both directions in one booking, the return is secured from the start; you set both pick-up times yourself, and the confirmation lists them.
Hourly Service
Hourly service keeps one chauffeur and one vehicle with you for a set number of hours. When you book, you set the start at LHR, the final address and the hours you need, and you add the day's plan to the reservation so the chauffeur has it before your flight lands. It suits an arrival day with appointments, not a straight run to one hotel.

London Heathrow Airport to Ilford: Route and Drive Time

Ilford is the main town of Redbridge, in the north-east of Greater London, while Heathrow sits out beyond the western suburbs. The drive is 34 miles, normally 1 hour 25 minutes to 2 hours. Most of it runs on the A406 North Circular around the north of London, and the last miles come in from the west along the A12 Eastern Avenue, which meets the North Circular just outside the town.

Inside Ilford, the neighbourhood decides the finish. The centre is where the borough's town hall and The Exchange mall are found; Gants Hill lies to the north on the Eastern Avenue, Valentines Park between the two, and Seven Kings and Goodmayes to the east, towards King George Hospital.

Journey times vary with traffic and weather. An IG postcode in the booking lets the chauffeur choose the right exit from the A12.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at London Heathrow Airport

Heathrow's passengers use Terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5, and the airport is busiest in the holidays: in 2025 December was its busiest month and 1 August its busiest day, with more than 270,000 passengers. Give your terminal in the booking and the car goes there. Heathrow does not allow pick-ups on the terminal forecourts; collections take place from the terminal car parks.

On such peak days, the queue at the UK Border and the wait for suitcases may stretch. That does not affect your car: for arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pick-up rules.

If a family member wants to collect you, they can stay at home in Ilford and meet you at the door instead of driving across London twice.

Arriving at Your Address in Ilford

Ilford is a mix of town-centre flats, Edwardian terraces and semi-detached streets in Gants Hill and Seven Kings. Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. Where a flat's door opens onto a side street behind the shops, name that street.

If you are flying in to visit a patient at King George Hospital in Goodmayes, give the hospital and the entrance in the booking, and the chauffeur drives there directly.

For the rest of your stay, Elizabeth line trains from Ilford run through Stratford and Liverpool Street; Valentines Park and its mansion are a short walk from the town centre.

From Ilford Back to London Heathrow Airport

From Ilford the trip to Heathrow is 1 hour 25 minutes to 2 hours on a normal day, so plan by that length rather than by the hour on the clock, and allow more on weekday mornings on the North Circular. You set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

The four Heathrow terminals have separate approach roads: Terminal 5 in the west, Terminal 4 in the south, Terminals 2 and 3 in the middle. Your ticket names the terminal; copy it into the reservation.

The Christmas period brings busy roads and full terminals. In 2026 the bank holidays fall on Friday 25 and Monday 28 December, and a flight on the days around them deserves extra time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your airport transfer with Bookinglane.

How long does a car take from Heathrow to Ilford?

Ilford is 34 miles from the terminals, normally 1 hour 25 minutes to 2 hours by car. Most of the route is on the North Circular, so peak hours make the biggest difference.

After touchdown we sat on the taxiway for an hour. Is the car gone?

No. The chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time, so the time spent on the taxiway is already covered. Keep the flight number in your booking.

Where at Heathrow will the car be?

At your arrival terminal, but not at the kerb: Heathrow does not allow pick-ups on the terminal forecourts; collections take place from the terminal car parks. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pick-up rules.

Is Ilford on the Elizabeth line?

Yes. Ilford is a Zone 4 stop on the Elizabeth line, between Romford and Stratford. With heavy luggage from Heathrow, a car to your address saves changing trains on the way.

Can our exhibition team and its cases arrive in one vehicle?

Yes, for a team of up to a dozen, a Sprinter van holds people and bags together; for display stands, boxes of brochures or demonstration equipment, tell support what you carry so the right vehicle is sent.

What do you need to know about London Heathrow Airport in 2026–2027?

Heathrow handled a record 84.5 million passengers in 2025 and expects about 85 million in 2026. At ExCeL, the Bett education show runs from 20 to 22 January 2027. Visitors who do not need a visa for the UK, other than British and Irish citizens, must hold an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before they travel.
