Airport Transfers from London Gatwick Airport (LGW) to Epsom

One-Way Transfer
A one-way transfer covers one journey between two addresses: the North Terminal to a flat near Epsom station, the South Terminal to a family house in Ewell, or a hotel on the Downs to the South Terminal for a Sunday flight home. For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time; for a departure, you set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
Round-Trip Service
Round-Trip Service books both directions in one reservation: from the South Terminal to an Epsom hotel on the Thursday before Ladies Day, and back to Gatwick on the Sunday morning after the Derby. For race week, book the transfers when you buy your tickets. With both directions in one booking, the return is secured from the start; you set both pick-up times yourself, and the confirmation lists them.
Hourly Service
Hourly service keeps one chauffeur and one vehicle with you for a set number of hours. When you book, you set the start at LGW, the final address and the hours you need, and you add the day's plan to the reservation so the chauffeur has it before your flight lands. It suits an arrival day with appointments, not a straight run to one hotel.

London Gatwick Airport to Epsom: Route and Drive Time

Epsom lies north of Gatwick, on the far side of the North Downs, and from the terminals the town centre is 26 miles by road, normally 50 minutes to 1 hour 10 minutes. The car takes the motorway up to the M25 and then the roads across the open downland, where the racecourse sits on the hill south of the town.

Epsom is almost exactly between two large airports: Heathrow is a similar drive to the north-west. For a passenger with a choice of flights, the airline and the time of arrival matter more than the distance.

Within the borough, your street decides the finish. The town centre sits on the A24, Ewell is the other half of the borough of Epsom and Ewell, and the Downs are open land around the racecourse. Journey times vary with traffic and weather.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at London Gatwick Airport

In 2025, 42.8 million passengers used Gatwick, and its long-haul traffic grew by 3.3% while short-haul fell slightly. Both kinds of flight arrive at the same two terminals, North and South; give your terminal in the booking and the car goes there.

On the day you fly in, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pick-up rules.

Passport control and the baggage belts can be slow after an overnight long-haul arrival. The car is timed by the landing, so you can walk out at your own pace and take the chauffeur's call when you have your bags.

Arriving at Your Address in Epsom

Epsom is a Surrey town just outside Greater London; on two sides its borough meets Greater London, at Sutton and at Kingston. Addresses range from houses on the roads up to the Downs to flats near Epsom station, which has trains to Waterloo and Victoria, and to the hospital and the creative arts campus in the town.

Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. In Derby week, name the hotel or the house, not the racecourse, if you are going to your lodgings first.

For a guest staying in Ewell, give the street rather than the borough name, as the two centres are separate and the car goes straight to the right one.

From Epsom Back to London Gatwick Airport

Driving back to Gatwick usually takes 50 minutes to 1 hour 10 minutes; think in drive length, not clock time, and add more at the motorway peak hours. You set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Gatwick's two terminal buildings stand almost a mile from each other. Enter the departure terminal from your ticket so the drop-off is at the right one.

If you are flying home straight after the races, plan around the race days. Oaks Day is Friday 4 June 2027 and Derby Day Saturday 5 June, and traffic leaving the Downs after the last race can slow the start of the trip. A flight on the Sunday morning gives you more room.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your airport transfer with Bookinglane.

How many miles is Epsom from Gatwick?

Epsom is 26 miles from the Gatwick terminals, normally 50 minutes to 1 hour 10 minutes by car. Heathrow is a similar drive, so choose the airport by your airline.

A long-haul delay means I land at Gatwick close to midnight. Is the transfer still on?

Yes. The chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time, and the later time becomes the new pick-up time. Check that your flight number is correct in the booking.

Landing at Gatwick South Terminal, where is my car?

At the South Terminal, cars collect passengers from the South Terminal Short Stay car park. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pick-up rules.

Is Epsom Downs station the same as Epsom station?

No. Epsom station is in the town, with trains to Waterloo and Victoria. Epsom Downs and Tattenham Corner stand at the ends of their branch lines and are the closest stations to the racecourse. Tell us which one you use, and add the train and its arrival time to the booking, and the car is scheduled for that arrival.

We are a Ladies Day party of ten with dresses and hats. Which vehicle?

One Sprinter van is enough: it is built for groups of up to 12, so ten of you and the outfits travel together. Tell support about hat boxes and dress bags when you book, and reserve early for 4 June 2027.

What do you need to know about Epsom in 2026–2027?

The Derby Festival is on Friday 4 June 2027 (Oaks Day, also Ladies Day) and Saturday 5 June 2027 (Derby Day). Earlier that spring, from 1 April 2027, a single body called East Surrey Council is set to replace both Epsom and Ewell's borough council and Surrey County Council in the town.
