One-Way Transfer
A one-way transfer covers one journey between two addresses: the terminal to the Priory guest house, the airport to a cottage in the old village, or a riverside house to London City in time for an early departure. On arrival day, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time; for a departure, you set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
Round-Trip Service
Round-Trip Service books both directions in one reservation: London City to The Friars on the first evening of a retreat and out to the airport on the final morning, or the airport to a family home by the Medway for a week and out again afterwards. With both directions in one booking, the return is secured from the start; you set both pick-up times yourself, and the confirmation lists them.
Hourly Service
Hourly service keeps one chauffeur and one vehicle with you for a set number of hours. When you book, you set the start at LCY, the final address and the hours you need, and you add the day's plan to the reservation so the chauffeur has it before your flight lands. It suits an arrival day with appointments, not a straight run to one hotel.

London City Airport to Aylesford: Route and Drive Time

Aylesford, a Medway village belonging to Tonbridge and Malling borough, lies well beyond London's south-eastern edge. From the Royal Docks the journey is 33 miles, normally 1 hour 5 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes. The route goes over the Thames, leaves the capital through its south-eastern suburbs and then takes the motorways into Kent.

The village is close to the M20, between junctions 4 and 5, and the last part of the drive comes down into the Medway valley. The address is either the old village by the river or Aylesford Priory, the Carmelite friary known as The Friars. Journey times vary with traffic and weather.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at London City Airport

London City works from one terminal in the Royal Docks. Chauffeur cars booked ahead collect their guests in the Short Stay car park.

When a retreat guest's plane is coming from overseas, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pick-up rules.

Aylesford does have a small station on the line along the Medway valley, but getting there from the airport by rail means crossing London and changing more than once. For a guest with a suitcase and a fixed arrival time at the Priory, the car is far simpler.

Arriving at Your Address in Aylesford

The Friars, as Aylesford Priory is known, hosts retreat guests and holds events too. If you are staying there, give the Priory as the address and mention the guest house or reception in the booking notes.

For a house in the village or along the Medway, give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up.

If your programme starts on the evening you arrive, a morning flight into London City leaves time for the drive. If you want to see Rochester, with its cathedral and castle, before or after a retreat, book that ride separately.

From Aylesford Back to London City Airport

Leaving the Medway valley for the airport takes 1 hour 5 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes on an ordinary day; allow more in the weekday rush on the roads into London. You set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

London City has a single terminal, and on Saturdays it closes at 12:30. A retreat that ends on a Saturday morning may therefore suit a Sunday flight better than a rushed Saturday one.

In July 2027 the county's agricultural show comes back to Detling, close to the village; its exact days are not yet published. On those days, add time to the drive.

Everything you need to know before booking your airport transfer with Bookinglane.

What journey time should I plan from London City Airport to Aylesford?

33 miles, normally 1 hour 5 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes. The route leaves London to the south-east and runs into Kent by motorway.

The retreat begins tonight but my London City flight is delayed. What happens?

The chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time. Let the Priory know if you expect to arrive after the start.

How do I find the car after landing at London City?

Follow signs for Short Stay parking, a few steps from the only terminal. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pick-up rules.

What is The Friars in Aylesford?

It is the other name of Aylesford Priory, a house of Carmelite friars by the Medway which receives retreat guests and holds events. Use the Priory as the drop-off address in your booking.

A parish group of 30 is coming for a pilgrimage. How should we book?

A coach fits 30: a Sprinter van carries up to 12 people with their bags, and bigger groups go by coach, with up to 56 seats. Anyone on a different flight needs a transfer of their own.
