Paderborn Lippstadt Airport to Kassel: Route and Drive Time
Kassel is 88 km south-east of the airport, 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 35 minutes by car. Almost the whole drive is on the A44, which leaves North Rhine-Westphalia and crosses into Hesse before it reaches Kassel.
At the Kassel end there are two quite different destinations. Wilhelmshöhe, on the western side, has the ICE station and the Bergpark rising up the hill to the Hercules monument; the city centre, with its museums, hotels and the documenta venues, lies further east. Telling the chauffeur which side you need saves a detour through town. The old Hauptbahnhof is now a cultural venue, the Kulturbahnhof, so the ICE trains use Wilhelmshöhe.
Journey times vary with traffic and weather. Add the full street address, or the name of the venue, to the booking.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Paderborn Lippstadt Airport
Kassel-bound passengers at PAD come out of its only terminal, the same building for every flight, so no terminal goes into the booking.
For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules.
Why fly into PAD for Kassel? The city's own airport at Calden has few scheduled flights. PAD handled 711,434 passengers in 2025 and so offers more holiday routes and a link to Munich, so a traveller from Kassel bound for Antalya or Mallorca may find the flight here, with a direct car on the A44 at either end of the trip. DAT flies the Munich service on behalf of skyhub PAD.

Arriving at Your Address in Kassel
Every five years the documenta turns Kassel into a large exhibition of contemporary art; documenta 16 runs from 12 June to 19 September 2027. Its venues are spread across the city, and not all of them have an obvious street door, so give the name of the venue as well as the nearest street.
Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up.
West of the centre, the Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe and its water features have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since June 2013. From 1 May to 3 October the water runs on Wednesdays, Sundays and Hessian public holidays, about 2.3 km downhill from the Hercules. For a hotel near the park, name the entrance you want: the top by the Hercules or the palace at the foot. The entrance you choose decides the final stretch of the drive.

From Kassel Back to Paderborn Lippstadt Airport
For the return, count with the drive time: 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 35 minutes from the centre of Kassel to the terminal, a little less from Wilhelmshöhe, which is closer to the A44. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
At PAD there is just one terminal, so no further detail is needed for the drop-off. A colleague who leaves by rail instead goes from Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe, the ICE station.
The busy season on the Kassel side is summer. During documenta, from June to September 2027, and on water-feature days at the Bergpark, traffic and visitor numbers rise in the city. A family leaving for a summer holiday flight from PAD on such a day can plan a little more time for the way out of town.
