Nuremberg Airport to Wurzburg: Route and Drive Time
Würzburg is 108 km north-west of the airport by road, normally 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes by car. After a short stretch on the B4 and a state road, the car joins the A3 and follows it west through Franconia almost to the Main.
On the motorway the traffic decides the time, especially on the busy A3 between Nuremberg and Frankfurt. In the city, the river shapes the last part: the old town with the Residenz lies on the right bank of the Main, the fortress on the hill opposite. The Congress Centrum Würzburg is on the old-town side next to the Friedensbrücke, and cars from the A3 reach it over the bridge or round the ring roads.
Journey times vary with traffic and weather. The booking needs the flight number, the full address and, for a congress, the event name.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Nuremberg Airport
NUE is the nearest airport to Würzburg by road, and in 2025 it handled a record 4,508,765 passengers. More than 1.6 million of them flew on holiday charters, which makes it a natural choice for families from Lower Franconia heading for the sun.
For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules.
From the airport, the public route to Würzburg means the U2 to Nuremberg Hauptbahnhof and then a train west. For a family with holiday luggage, or a delegate who wants to arrive at the congress hall rather than the station, a car over the full distance is the simpler choice.

Arriving at Your Address in Wurzburg
The Residenz, the baroque palace of the prince-bishops, has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1981, and Tiepolo painted the vast ceiling fresco above its staircase. Hotels for visitors to the palace and the old town are within walking distance of it.
For a conference, the Congress Centrum Würzburg on Pleichertorstraße is the usual address. Its site by the Friedensbrücke, on the same side of the river as the old town, has an underground car park with 300 spaces, so a drop-off for delegates with display cases is easy to arrange.
The Hauptbahnhof is an ICE junction. A colleague arriving by rail from Munich or Hamburg can join your party there, and the Congress Centrum lies about 1 km from the station, a 15-minute walk. Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up.

From Wurzburg Back to Nuremberg Airport
For the trip back, count the drive rather than the clock: 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes from Würzburg to the terminal, more when the A3 is congested. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
The festival season deserves extra margin. From late May to late June the Mozartfest stages some 90 concerts, and around the end of June the Kiliani-Volksfest begins, so the city's streets are fuller in those weeks.
At the Festung Marienberg, renovation until 2030 may restrict access, so name the entrance you will use for a pickup. A delegate leaving after the final session can be collected at the Congress Centrum itself. If you are flying from Frankfurt instead, the drive west is a separate transfer with its own terminal to name.
