Munich Airport to Wolfratshausen: Route and Drive Time
Wolfratshausen is south of Munich, in the Tölzer Land, while the airport is north-east of the city, so the transfer has to pass Munich on one side. It is 84 km, usually 1 hour 5 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes: the motorway ring A99 carries the car round the city, and the final kilometres run on country roads into the Isar valley. The ring is the variable part, and in the rush hours it can push the drive to the upper figure.
The town sits just above the point where the Loisach joins the Isar. Its old town follows one long market street, rebuilt after the Thirty Years' War, and the S-Bahn station at the end of the S7 line is close by. The landing stage for the raft trips is on the river, a different place from the hotels in town, so a group should name the operator and the meeting point.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Munich Airport
Two terminals serve MUC. The Lufthansa Group and the Star Alliance are based at Terminal 2, part of which is a satellite reached by an underground train, and airlines such as Condor, Eurowings and British Airways operate from Terminal 1. Give your terminal in the booking and the car goes there.
For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules.
By train, Wolfratshausen means the S-Bahn into central Munich and a second S-Bahn, the S7, out to the end of its line. For holiday guests with suitcases and walking boots, that change in the city is a long way round. The car goes from the terminal to the guesthouse or holiday flat directly.

Arriving at Your Address in Wolfratshausen
For centuries, rafts carried timber and goods from here down the Isar to Munich, until the railway took over around 1889. Since 2014 the craft has been listed as intangible cultural heritage in Germany, and it still sets the pattern of summer here: from early May to mid-September, raft trips with music and food set off for Munich-Thalkirchen.
Addresses in town are mostly guesthouses, hotels and homes along and behind the market street. Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. For a raft trip, take the boarding point from the operator's booking, not the operator's office address.
Some stays combine the town with the lakes and hills. Lake Starnberg's main town is 25 km from here, 35–45 minutes, and Bad Tölz also 25 km, 30–40 minutes.

From Wolfratshausen Back to Munich Airport
The drive back runs the same way round Munich, so plan by its length: 1 hour 5 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes from the old town to the terminal, more when the ring motorway is busy. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
Departures go from the terminal on your ticket. Lufthansa and the Star Alliance fly from Terminal 2, everyone else from Terminal 1, and the car brings you to the one you name.
In summer, the raft season sets the town's rhythm. The rafts land at the Floßlände Maria Einsiedel in Thalkirchen, in the south of Munich, usually in the afternoon depending on the water level. A group that flies home the same evening can book the pickup there; the drive to the airport then starts from the landing, not from Wolfratshausen.
