Munich Airport to Rosenheim: Route and Drive Time
Rosenheim lies south-east of Munich, on the A8 towards Salzburg, and the airport is on the far side of the city to the north-east. The transfer covers 109 km and usually takes 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes: the A92 and A9 lead to the A99, which swings round the east of Munich to the A8, and the last part runs on a state road into the town. The A99 and the start of the A8 are where the time is won or lost, above all in the morning and evening peaks.
The town end is compact. Max-Josefs-Platz is the centre of the old town, the station is a short walk away along Bahnhofstraße, and the Herbstfest takes place on the Loretowiese. Hotels in the old town need more care than addresses outside it, because several squares are pedestrian zones.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Munich Airport
A passenger for Rosenheim might land at either of MUC's two terminals. Lufthansa and the other Star Alliance airlines use Terminal 2; Terminal 1 hosts carriers such as Condor and Eurowings, and since April 2026 a new pier there has handled its flights from outside the Schengen area. Give your terminal in the booking and the car goes there.
For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules.
Rosenheim is one of the cases where MUC is not the nearest airport: Salzburg is closer, as the comparison further down shows. If your trip combines both, for example arriving at MUC and leaving from Salzburg, book each leg separately with its own flight number.

Arriving at Your Address in Rosenheim
Rosenheim's old town is small, and much of it is closed to ordinary traffic. The pedestrian area takes in Max-Josefs-Platz and Ludwigsplatz as well as stretches of Münchener Straße and Am Salzstadel. Delivery vehicles are let in during a morning and an evening window; outside those hours a permit is required. For a hotel inside this area, send the full address with the booking and we will tell you how close the car can go.
Outside the pedestrian streets, the town is easy to reach by car. The station on Bahnhofstraße has Eurocity and Railjet trains to Innsbruck and direct services over the Brenner to Verona.
Some visitors add the Chiemsee to their stay. Prien, on its western shore, is 20 km to the east, 30–40 minutes by car.

From Rosenheim Back to Munich Airport
The trip back is long enough that it pays to plan carefully. Count 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes from Rosenheim to the terminal, and more when the A8 and the A99 east of Munich are congested. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
At the airport, the car goes to your departure terminal. Terminal 2 handles Lufthansa and Star Alliance flights, Terminal 1 the remaining airlines, so look at your ticket before you book.
On the Rosenheim side, the Herbstfest is the period that needs most margin. It runs for sixteen days from late August into September on the Loretowiese, and Munich's Oktoberfest follows soon after. In those weeks, start earlier than you would on an ordinary day; the old town and the station lie close together.
