Hannover Airport to Hildesheim: Route and Drive Time
Seen from the airport, Hildesheim is beyond the state capital to the south-east, and by road it is 51 km, usually 50 minutes to 1 hour 10 minutes. The car takes the A2 east and then turns south onto the A7. The section that varies most is the motorway ring around the big city, which is slower on weekday mornings and in fair weeks.
Once the car leaves the A7, the address sets the rest. The cathedral and St Michael's Church stand on the edge of the old town, the Marktplatz is in its middle, and the Hauptbahnhof is a short drive to the north. A hotel near the cathedral and a guest house in an outer district are two quite different final stretches.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Hannover Airport
HAJ lies in Langenhagen, north of Hanover, and is open round the clock without night-flight restrictions. The four terminals, A to D, stand in one line, and the railway station of the S5 sits between Terminals B and C. Since the buildings are separate, give your terminal in the booking and the car goes there.
For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules.
By public transport the same trip means the S5 to Hannover Hauptbahnhof and then a second train south. With a car there is no change: you leave the terminal with your luggage and step out again in Hildesheim, close to the door of your hotel.
Arriving at Your Address in Hildesheim
Hildesheim's two Romanesque churches, St Mary's Cathedral and St Michael's, have been on the UNESCO World Heritage list since 1985. On the Marktplatz, the timber-framed Knochenhaueramtshaus, first built in 1529 and later reconstructed, faces the town hall.

Other addresses are plain sailing. The Hauptbahnhof, where two ICE lines between Berlin and Frankfurt meet, is easy to reach by car, and so are the hotels on the main roads around the centre. From Hildesheim Back to Hannover Airport
For the flight home, plan by the length of the drive: from the old town to the terminals it takes 50 minutes to 1 hour 10 minutes when the motorways run freely. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
The car goes to the terminal on your ticket, A, B, C or D, so give it in the booking for the return as well. If you would rather go by rail, an S-Bahn to Hanover has left from the Hauptbahnhof since 2008, and the S5 continues from there to the airport.
Fair weeks change the picture on this side too. During the Hannover Messe or Agritechnica, hotels in town may fill with fair guests. From the Marktplatz, the exhibition grounds are 26 km away, 35–45 minutes. A visitor flying out on the last fair day can go from the hall to the airport directly, with the luggage already in the car.
