Frankfurt Airport to Hanau: Route and Drive Time
Hanau lies on the Main east of Frankfurt, and the airport is well to its south-west. The transfer is 37 km, 40–55 minutes by car, starting on the A3 and finishing on the B43 and B45, which lead into the city. On a weekday morning or late afternoon the motorway section is what stretches the drive towards the upper end.
The destination shapes the final kilometres. Hanau's large industrial sites, among them Heraeus and Evonik's Wolfgang site, sit apart from the centre and have their own gates. The city centre, the Hauptbahnhof and Congress Park Hanau are closer together, and Schloss Philippsruhe stands in its park by the river on the western side.
Journey times vary with traffic and weather. For an industrial site, give the plant name and the gate on your visitor pass, not only the street.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Frankfurt Airport
Since June 2026 all flights at FRA have used Terminal 1 or Terminal 3; Terminal 2 will stay shut for its refurbishment until the mid-2030s. The two buildings in use stand well apart, and the SkyLine train needs about eight minutes between them, so the right one belongs in the booking. Give your terminal in the booking and the car goes there.
On the day, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules.
That matters most after a night flight. A long-haul arrival that lands early, or an hour late, does not change the transfer: the pickup follows the aircraft, and the drive to Hanau starts once you are through the terminal with your luggage.

Arriving at Your Address in Hanau
Hanau is a centre of materials technology. Heraeus is headquartered in the city, and its components go into around 90% of the world's pacemaker systems; Evonik employs about 3,500 people in the city, most of them in research and development. Four Hanau materials firms rank among the 100 largest companies in Hesse, so a visitor's appointment may well be at a plant rather than an office.
The city is also the birthplace of the Brothers Grimm and the first stop on the German Fairy Tale Route. Congress Park Hanau, close to the Hauptbahnhof, hosts company meetings and conferences.
Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. On a large industrial site, the visitor centre and the gate number make the drop-off simple.

From Hanau Back to Frankfurt Airport
For the flight out, go by the drive time, not the clock: 40–55 minutes from Hanau to the terminal, longer when the A3 is busy at the start or end of the working day. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
The car goes to Terminal 1 or Terminal 3, whichever your ticket names.
In summer the city side needs more attention. The Brüder Grimm Festspiele play fairy-tale theatre every summer, from May to July, in a covered amphitheatre in the park of Schloss Philippsruhe, and on performance evenings that part of town is busier. Before Christmas, the Märchenhafter Weihnachtsmarkt fills the centre. An engineer leaving after a supplier audit can be collected directly at the plant gate, which keeps the ride to the airport as short as possible.
