Erfurt–Weimar Airport to Jena: Route and Drive Time
Jena lies east of the airport, beyond Weimar. From the terminal the car joins the A71 and then the A4 eastwards, covering 64 km in 55 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes, and the motorway passes Weimar on the way.
The address in Jena decides the final minutes. The JenTower, the tallest building on the skyline, marks the centre and is an easy reference for a meeting there. Visits to the university hospital or to the sites of Carl Zeiss, Schott and Jenoptik need the building or the gate as well as the street, because the street alone does not tell the chauffeur which entrance you need.
Journey times vary with traffic and weather. Most of the trip is motorway, so congestion on the A4 matters more than town traffic; book with the flight number and the full address.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Erfurt–Weimar Airport
For Jena, ERF is the nearest airport, and its timetable is built around holiday routes: Antalya led in the 2025 summer holidays, ahead of Mallorca, Hurghada and Crete. A researcher may therefore connect elsewhere on the way in, while a family flying to the beach finds the closest departure here.
For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules.
Public transport is less direct. Tram line 4 links the terminal with Erfurt Hauptbahnhof, and since 2017 Jena has had hardly any long-distance trains, so the trip by rail usually means a change there and a regional train onwards. The car runs from the terminal to Jena without any change.

Arriving at Your Address in Jena
Optics shaped Jena. Carl Zeiss, Schott and Jenoptik built its economy, and Analytik Jena, Intershop and Jenapharm, which belongs to Bayer, came later. A business visit may lead to one of these sites, to Thuringia's only university hospital or to one of the two universities.
The Friedrich Schiller University, founded in 1558, has about 21,000 students, and the Ernst Abbe University of Applied Sciences about 5,000 more. For a lecture, an examination or a lab visit, the faculty building is the address to give, not the university's name alone.
Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. For a meeting near the JenTower, the tower itself is a clear landmark for the chauffeur.

From Jena Back to Erfurt–Weimar Airport
For the way back, take the drive time as the starting point: 55 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes to the terminal, more when the A4 is congested. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
On the Jena side, a guest leaving straight after a meeting at an optics company or at the university hospital or at the JenTower, built in 1969–1972, can be collected there instead of at the hotel. That keeps the return to the motorway and saves a detour through the centre.
Around the Zeiss Planetarium at Am Planetarium 5, parking is hard to find. Visit Jena lists two bays for coaches on Bibliotheksweg, roughly 200 m from the building, so a coach group should give the planetarium as its pickup address. The return runs over the A4 and the A71.
