Düsseldorf Airport to Leverkusen: Route and Drive Time
Leverkusen lies south of the airport, on the right bank of the Rhine on the way to Cologne. By road it is 46 km, usually 45 minutes to 1 hour: the A44 runs east from the terminal to the A3, the A3 carries you south, and the B8 takes over for the last kilometres into town.
The final part depends on where you are expected. The Chempark is a fenced industrial site with several gates, so the right gate counts for more than the street. Bayer's global head office, in the city since 1912, is a separate address, and Opladen, the northern district, is where a visiting team may have its hotel.
Journey times vary with traffic and weather. Include the flight number when you book; for the Chempark, also name the gate and the company you are visiting.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Düsseldorf Airport
Cologne Bonn Airport is closer to Leverkusen, yet for a long-haul trip DUS can be the better choice. Düsseldorf counted 21 million passengers in 2025, about twice the 10.1 million at Cologne Bonn, and its network has more intercontinental routes. All of it passes through one terminal building, which keeps the booking simple: there is no terminal to name.
For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules.
For an engineer coming off a night flight from another continent, the useful detail is the luggage: tool cases and safety gear travel in the car, and the drive can end at the site gate rather than at the hotel.

Arriving at Your Address in Leverkusen
Leverkusen is a company town in the plain sense. Bayer arrived in 1891, and its old works on the Rhine now form the Chempark, a chemical park run by Currenta and shared by many firms. In mid-2022 more than 34,000 people worked at the Leverkusen site, which gives an idea of its size.
An address there is not a door on a street. The site is fenced and reached through gates, so a booking that names the gate and the company spares a search along the perimeter. Bayer's head office has its own address outside the park.
Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. If colleagues follow by train, the S6 line between Cologne and Düsseldorf calls at Leverkusen Mitte and at a station named after the Chempark.

From Leverkusen Back to Düsseldorf Airport
The trip out takes 45 minutes to 1 hour from the centre of town to the terminal. Allow more near the A1 Rhine bridge: its first half has been open since February 2024, the second half is still being built, and lanes and slip roads around the Leverkusen junctions can change while the works go on. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
At DUS the car goes to the single terminal, whichever pier your flight uses.
A team leaving at the end of a shutdown or an audit can be picked up at the Chempark gate with its cases, without going back to the hotel first. Visitors register at the central reception, Kaiser-Wilhelm-Allee 101. If the last meeting is at Bayer's head office, give that address as the start.
