Dresden Airport to Chemnitz: Route and Drive Time
Chemnitz lies south-west of Dresden, and the airport sits on the northern side of that city, close to the A4. The drive covers 82 km, usually 1 hour 5 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes, most of it on the motorway heading west, with the B95 bringing the car into town at the end.
North-west of the city, the A4 meets the A72 at the Chemnitz interchange, and the address decides where the car leaves the motorway: the centre around the Karl Marx Monument, the university, the Klinikum or a plant elsewhere in the region. In winter, snow or ice on the motorway can stretch the drive towards the upper figure.
Journey times vary with traffic and weather. Name the building, the department or the gate as well as the street, so the car heads for the right entrance.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Dresden Airport
At DRS every flight uses the single terminal in Klotzsche, so the booking needs no terminal. Its routes include German and Swiss hubs, which suits a supplier or engineer connecting through a hub on the way to Chemnitz.
For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules.
Chemnitz has no airport of its own, and by rail the trip from DRS means taking the S-Bahn from the station in the terminal into Dresden, 14 minutes to Neustadt or 21 to the Hauptbahnhof, and changing trains there. A car from the terminal runs to Chemnitz in one go, with tool cases and suitcases kept together in the boot.

Arriving at Your Address in Chemnitz
Chemnitz works in mechanical engineering, metalworking and vehicle building. In the Chemnitz–Zwickau region, no employer is larger than Volkswagen; the Klinikum Chemnitz is the biggest hospital in eastern Germany's states, and the University of Technology counts around 10,000 students, roughly a quarter of them from abroad. The city lies in the Ore Mountain Basin and was European Capital of Culture in 2025.
The centre is easy to recognise by the Karl Marx Monument, Lev Kerbel's giant head, which locals call the Nischel. For an appointment at the Klinikum, the university or a plant, a hospital or factory site needs more than a street name: add the department or the gate. Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up.

From Chemnitz Back to Dresden Airport
Allow 1 hour 5 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes from the centre to the terminal on a clear A4, and more when the motorway is busy or the weather turns in winter. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
There is only one terminal at DRS, so the drop-off needs no extra details.
The Chemnitz side matters more. A visitor finishing at a plant or the Klinikum can be collected there instead of at a hotel in the centre, which saves time on a long return. In the rush hour, keep an eye on the Chemnitz interchange, where the A4 and the A72 meet and the traffic of two motorways comes together. In Advent the Christmas market around the Rathaus fills the Markt and the Neumarkt, and concerts at the Messe Chemnitz, the Stadthalle and the Carlowitz Congresscenter fill other evenings.
