Dortmund Airport to Dortmund: Route and Drive Time
The airport sits at Holzwickede, east of the city, so this is the shortest run that DTM offers: 13 km along the B1, usually 25–35 minutes by car. The B1 is the main east–west road through Dortmund, and its rush-hour queues decide whether the trip stays close to the lower figure.
The destination matters more than the distance. The Westfalenhallen and Signal Iduna Park stand next to each other on Strobelallee, south of the centre. From the terminal to that pair of venues it is about 14 km, 30–40 minutes. A hotel in the city centre or near the Hauptbahnhof is reached from the east along the B1.
Journey times vary with traffic and weather. On a match day, or on the opening morning of a fair, put the hall number or the stadium gate in the booking next to the street.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Dortmund Airport
In 2025 the airport handled 3,242,569 passengers, a record, and it still does so with one passenger terminal. Whichever airline brought you, Eurowings, Wizz Air or a holiday carrier, you leave the plane in the same building, so the booking needs no terminal.
Once the flight number is in the booking, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules.
The AirportExpress bus takes about 25 minutes to Dortmund Hauptbahnhof, which works for a hotel beside the station. For a stand at the Westfalenhallen, an office in a suburb or a family home, the bus means another change at the station; the car runs from the terminal kerb to the address itself.

Arriving at Your Address in Dortmund
Two neighbours on Strobelallee draw the city's largest crowds. Signal Iduna Park, home of Borussia Dortmund, holds 81,365 spectators, and the Westfalenhallen beside it stage over a thousand events every year, from trade fairs and congresses to concerts. When both are busy on the same day, the surrounding streets fill up long before the doors open.
In the centre, the Christmas market occupies the squares in the last weeks of the year, gathered around a giant tree on Hansaplatz. Opposite the south entrance of the Hauptbahnhof stands the Deutsches Fußballmuseum, the national football museum of the DFB, opened in October 2015.
Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. For an exhibitor, the hall entrance says more than the street number; for a match guest, the stadium gate does.

From Dortmund Back to Dortmund Airport
For the flight home, count back from departure with the length of the drive: from the centre to the terminal it takes 25–35 minutes, more when the B1 is jammed in the evening rush. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
The airport end needs no planning, because DTM has a single terminal for all departures and the car pulls up at that building. The Dortmund end is what to watch. After a home match, tens of thousands of spectators leave Strobelallee at the same time, and on fair days the Westfalenhallen add crowds of their own, so a pickup for an evening flight should start well before the rush.
An exhibitor flying out on the last evening of a fair can be collected straight from the hall, with the cases already packed, rather than going back to the hotel first.
