Cologne Bonn Airport to Koblenz: Route and Drive Time
Koblenz lies well to the south, in Rhineland-Palatinate, where the Moselle flows into the Rhine. From the airport the car joins the A3 heading south, then leaves it for the federal roads that drop down to the Rhine valley and into the city: 92 km in total, usually 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 35 minutes.
The A3 between Cologne and the Westerwald carries heavy long-distance traffic, and that stretch decides most of the variation. Once in the valley, the river divides the destinations: the old town, the Deutsches Eck and the main station are on the left bank, while the Ehrenbreitstein fortress stands high on the right bank opposite.
Journey times vary with traffic and weather. Give the full address and, for the fortress or a government site, the entrance you need, since the two banks are reached by different routes.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Cologne Bonn Airport
Before booking a Koblenz transfer, check whether you land at Terminal 1, the main base of Eurowings and Lufthansa, or at Terminal 2, where Ryanair and other carriers operate. A walkway on the landside joins them in about ten minutes. Give your terminal in the booking and the car goes there.
For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules.
Frankfurt-Hahn is nearer to Koblenz, but its timetable consists mostly of low-cost and holiday flights. CGN, with 10.1 million passengers in 2025, offers the wider choice, so a business traveller to Koblenz may well land here despite the longer drive.

Arriving at Your Address in Koblenz
The Deutsches Eck marks the confluence of the Moselle and the Rhine. Opposite, on the heights of the right bank, stands the Ehrenbreitstein fortress, linked to the confluence by an 850-metre cable car over the river. A hotel on the right bank is reached without crossing it.
Koblenz is also the headquarters of the BAAINBw, the Bundeswehr's office for equipment and information technology, with about 7,900 staff at its sites in the city and in Lahnstein. The authority works from several buildings, among them the Bundesbehördenhaus in Regierungsstraße and premises in Rauental, and visitors should say which they need.
Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. The main station lies in the south of the city, a useful reference for hotels nearby.

From Koblenz Back to Cologne Bonn Airport
Plan the return by its length: 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 35 minutes from Koblenz to the terminals on an ordinary day, and more if the A3 is jammed. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
A pickup on the right bank, at Ehrenbreitstein, saves a river crossing at the start, while an address in Rauental or near the main station begins in the south of the city. At the airport, the car heads for the terminal on your ticket, Terminal 1 or Terminal 2. For a visit to the BAAINBw, name the building, Regierungsstraße or Rauental, for the pickup as well.
Summer has one weekend that needs extra time. Rhein in Flammen brings stages, food stalls and fireworks to Koblenz each August; in 2026 it ran from 7 to 9 August, and on such a weekend traffic in the city builds up from the afternoon.
