Berlin Brandenburg Airport to Potsdam: Route and Drive Time
Seen from the airport, Potsdam lies on the far side of Berlin, yet the car does not have to cross the capital. From Schönefeld it heads west along the southern edge of the city on the L40 and the B101, and covers 44 km in 50 minutes to 1 hour 10 minutes.
Coming in from the east, the car reaches Babelsberg first. Studio Babelsberg and the campus of the Hasso Plattner Institute are in that district, so a film crew or a visiting researcher has the shortest last stretch. The palace park of Sanssouci and the Dutch Quarter are further west, beyond the centre, which adds town driving to the end of the trip.
Journey times vary with traffic and weather. Put the flight number and the exact address in the booking, with the studio gate or the institute building where it applies.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Berlin Brandenburg Airport
Two terminals are in use at BER, a short walk apart: Terminal 1, the main building, and Terminal 2, where Ryanair is the largest airline. Terminal 5, the former Schönefeld building, no longer handles flights. Give your terminal in the booking and the car goes there.
For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules.
By rail, the journey is less direct. The airport station has the FEX and regional trains, and Potsdam Hauptbahnhof is reached on the S7 or the RE1 from Berlin. With camera cases or a family's luggage, a car that goes from the terminal straight to Babelsberg or to the hotel spares you the platforms.

Arriving at Your Address in Potsdam
Babelsberg is the working end of Potsdam. Studio Babelsberg has 21 sound stages on August-Bebel-Straße, and the Hasso Plattner Institute, the digital engineering faculty of the University of Potsdam, has its campus in the same district. For either, the gate or the building is a better target than the district name.
The other Potsdam is the palace landscape. Its palaces and parks, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1990, cover 2,064 hectares, and Sanssouci, the summer palace Frederick II had built in 1745–1747, is at their heart. Hotels in the centre are close to Brandenburger Straße, the shopping street between the Dutch Quarter and Luisenplatz, which is largely closed to cars. For an address in that street, send the full address with the booking and we will tell you how close the car can go.

From Potsdam Back to Berlin Brandenburg Airport
On the way back, count on the full 50 minutes to 1 hour 10 minutes, and on more in the afternoon, when traffic builds on the roads along the southern edge of the capital. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
Tell us which terminal your flight leaves from: departures use Terminal 1 or Terminal 2, and the car heads for the one on your ticket.
A shoot that wraps late at Studio Babelsberg can end with a pickup at the studio rather than at the hotel, which suits a crew flying out the same night; a visiting researcher can be collected at the Hasso Plattner Institute in the same way. In February, during the Berlinale, film guests staying in Potsdam may shuttle between the studios and Berlin, so the airport run in that month is worth booking early.
