Getting Around Sölden
Sölden is a long village strung out along the valley floor at 1,368 m, 38 km up the Ötztal from the motorway exit, with the glacier roads climbing out of it. Above the village, Hochsölden sits at 2,090 m on its own road, a separate cluster of hotels rather than a quarter of the main street. Where your hotel is along that line matters for every trip you make.
The railway stays at the valley entrance. Ötztal Bahnhof is the mainline stop, and from there it is 38 km of road to Sölden by bus or car. After a long train journey with skis, that last hour is the one a car makes simple. Give us the train and its arrival time and the car is booked to meet it.
The valley has more than one village worth an evening. Längenfeld is about 14 km down the valley, Obergurgl about 14 km further up, and Vent is in its own side valley. Booked by the hour, one chauffeur and one vehicle stay with you for the time you reserve, so the drive back up the valley is already part of the plan.
An address in Hochsölden is a separate climb from the village, not a street in Sölden. Send the full address with your booking; the confirmation then tells you where the car will stop.

Airport Transfers to Sölden
Innsbruck is the airport for Sölden: about 85 km, a little over an hour. Munich is about 230 km and Zurich about 280 km, both three hours or more, and worth it for the wider choice of flights.
From Innsbruck and Munich the A12 Inntal motorway leads to the Ötztal exit, and the B186 then climbs 38 km up the valley. From Zurich and Friedrichshafen the A14 and the S16 cross the Arlberg to Landeck, and the A12 carries on to the same exit. The B186 is the only road into the Ötztal, and it carries Sölden, Obergurgl, Vent and the glacier traffic, so on a winter Saturday it is the slow part of every transfer.
Book with your flight number: your chauffeur checks the flight status and times the pickup to when you actually land, and your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur. For the flight home, you set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Long-Distance & Cross-Border Travel from Sölden
There is no railway in the Ötztal: the line ends at Ötztal Bahnhof, and the last 38 km are road only. For the second half of a trip that makes the car the simpler option. Innsbruck is about 85 km away for a few days in the city, and a move to Ischgl, in the Paznaun to the west, means leaving one valley and entering another. A car turns that into a single booking between two hotels.
Munich is about 230 km away and often where the journey begins or ends. In summer there is also a road south: the Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road to South Tyrol is open from about early June to mid or late October. A journey into Germany or Italy is one booking with one chauffeur, and there is no change of car at the frontier. Germany and Italy are both in Schengen, but checks on internal borders come and go, so every passenger should carry the travel documents their nationality and itinerary require.

Groups, Ski Equipment & Winter Travel in Sölden
In winter the Ötztal has one way in. The Timmelsjoch closes for the season, so from late autumn to early summer the B186 from the motorway exit is the only road to Sölden. Austrian law requires winter tyres from 1 November to 15 April whenever roads are wintry, and buses are fitted with them for the whole season regardless of the weather. Planning the 38 km of valley road around the weather is the driver's job.
Glacier and resort skiing both mean plenty of equipment, and that, rather than the passenger count, is what sets the vehicle. A Sprinter van carries up to 12 people with their bags, and bigger groups go by coach, with up to 56 seats. Tell us what the group is taking, and the vehicle is matched to the load. If people arrive on different flights, each arrival gets a transfer of its own.
The first dates to book are the Christmas to New Year period and the winter Saturdays, when local vehicles and drivers are booked up early. For something that does not fit one booking, speak to support and they will put the arrangement together.
