Lisbon Airport to Lisbon: Route and Drive Time
Humberto Delgado Airport sits inside Lisbon itself, 7 km from the Baixa. There is no motorway leg: the car leaves the terminal on Avenida Almirante Gago Coutinho, or joins the 2ª Circular ring road when your address lies to the west. The drive usually takes 15–35 minutes.
On so short a route the clock decides more than the kilometres. At the weekday morning and evening peaks the avenues into the centre fill, and the upper end of that range applies; late in the evening the same run is close to the lower end. Parque das Nações and the FIL halls, to the north-east, come first, about seven minutes from the airport. Belém and the Lisbon Congress Centre, on the western river front, are the furthest addresses in the city.
Journey times vary with traffic and weather. Give the hotel name and street with your flight number, because the district decides which way the car goes.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Lisbon Airport
Arrivals at Lisbon all come through Terminal 1, even on low-cost carriers whose departures use Terminal 2. Whatever the airline, you collect your bags and come out into the same arrivals hall.
For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules. With a hotel a quarter of an hour away, the meeting is most of the transfer: a flight that lands forty minutes early still ends with a car ready at Terminal 1 rather than a queue outside.
The airport is being enlarged while it stays in service. The works planned for the coming years cover both terminals, the aircraft stands and border control, so some parts of the building will be under construction. The new Luís de Camões airport on the south bank is not expected to open before 2035.

Arriving at Your Address in Lisbon
The hotel districts of Lisbon differ in how a car reaches them. The Baixa and Avenida da Liberdade lie in the inner zone of the ZER, the low-emission zone in force since 2011, which applies on weekdays during the day. Parque das Nações, with its modern hotels next to FIL and Oriente station, is outside the centre altogether and the quickest to reach from the terminal.
For a cruise, the Santa Apolónia terminal sits on the river next to the historic centre, and a stay that begins or ends on a ship can be booked straight between the terminal and the quay. For a flat in the older quarters, give the building number and the name on the door, not only the street.
Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. The same goes for the pickup address on the day you fly out.

From Lisbon Back to Lisbon Airport
Leaving Lisbon, the useful thing to know is how long the road takes, not when to leave: 15–35 minutes from a hotel in the Baixa to the terminal, longer in heavy traffic. The pickup time you choose is confirmed with the reservation.
Name your departure terminal when you book. Arrivals are all at Terminal 1, but low-cost airlines depart from Terminal 2, so the drop-off depends on the airline printed on your ticket.
After a cruise, the run from Santa Apolónia to the terminal works like one from a hotel: give the ship's name and the time you expect to be off with your luggage. If the trip continues by road instead of by air, Évora, 135 km from central Lisbon on the A2 and A6, and Porto, 313 km north on the A1, are booked as separate transfers from your hotel.
