One-Way Transfer
A one-way transfer covers one journey between two addresses: the arrivals hall to a hotel near Faro station, the terminal to a guesthouse within the walls of the Cidade Velha, or the city back to the airport before an evening flight. For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. For a departure, the pickup time you choose is confirmed with the reservation.
Round-Trip Service
Round-Trip Service books both directions in one reservation: Faro Airport to your hotel in the centre when you arrive, and the hotel to the terminal when you fly home. From July to September, the airport's busiest quarter, the leg home is the part to fix early, together with the arrival rather than at the end of the stay. The pickup times you choose for both legs are confirmed with the reservation.
Hourly Service
Hourly service keeps one chauffeur and one vehicle with you for a set number of hours. When you book, you set the start at FAO, the final address and the hours you need, and you add the day's plan to the reservation so the chauffeur has it before your flight lands. It suits an arrival day with appointments, not a straight run to one hotel.

Faro Airport to Faro: Route and Drive Time

Faro Airport lies just west of the city, 8 km from its centre. From the terminal, the EN 125-10, a short link road, brings the car into town, and the drive usually takes 20–25 minutes, depending on the hour.

This is the shortest run from the terminal, and no motorway is involved. The time goes on the last kilometres, in the streets around the marina and the station where the centre begins, and on the approach to the walled old town. A hotel on the edge of the centre is reached sooner than an address among the historic lanes.

Journey times vary with traffic and weather. Summer adds visitors to the city streets, so give your hotel's name and street with the flight number: in a centre this compact, the address decides the final minutes more than the distance.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Faro Airport

Faro Airport has one terminal, and every arriving flight leads into the same arrivals hall. There is no terminal number to check before landing.

For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules. On a route this short, the time between touchdown and the hall counts for more than the road: baggage reclaim can take as long as the drive into Faro.

The terminal stands on the edge of the Ria Formosa, the natural park of lagoons and sandbank islands that reaches as far as Faro's old town. A visitor who came for the city lands, in effect, on its doorstep.

Arriving at Your Address in Faro

Faro's centre is small. The railway station and the marina sit next to each other, and the Cidade Velha, the old town inside its walls, begins just behind them. Most central hotels are a few minutes apart by car, but access is not the same on every street.

Inside the Cidade Velha, driving or parking needs a special municipal authorisation; the Baixa's pedestrian streets require an exceptional permit. For a guesthouse behind the walls or a flat on a pedestrian street, we will tell you the nearest point a car can reach.

Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. If the first plan after landing is a boat out to the island beaches of the Ria Formosa, give the quay as the address instead of the hotel.

From Faro Back to Faro Airport

Leaving Faro, the useful thing to know is how long the road takes, not when to leave: 20–25 minutes from the centre to the terminal, longer in heavy traffic. The pickup time you choose is confirmed with the reservation.

With a single terminal building, your airline does not change the drop-off. Between July and September, when FAO handles more than a third of its passengers for the year, allow for a busier approach to the terminal when you choose the time.

If a train brought you to Faro and a plane takes you home, the pickup can be the station itself. The station, a short drive from the airport, receives Alfa Pendular trains from Porto-Campanhã and Intercidades trains from Lisbon.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your airport transfer with Bookinglane.

How long is the transfer from Faro Airport to the centre of Faro?

It is 8 km, on the EN 125-10 link road, and the car normally needs 20–25 minutes; in summer the streets near the marina and the old town add a little time.

Where do I meet my chauffeur at Faro Airport?

FAO has a single terminal, and all arriving flights lead into the same arrivals hall. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and there is no terminal to check before you fly.

Can the car drive into Faro's old town?

Only with a municipal authorisation: driving or parking inside the Cidade Velha needs a special one, and the pedestrian streets of the Baixa an exceptional one. Send the full address with the booking, and we will tell you how close the car can go.

What happens if my flight to Faro is late?

The pickup moves with it: the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time.

Can I be collected at Faro station instead of the airport?

Yes. The station stands next to the marina and receives Intercidades trains from Lisbon and Alfa Pendular trains from Porto-Campanhã. Include the train and its arrival time when you book and the car is booked to meet it.

Is Seville Airport an alternative for a stay in Faro?

Only rarely. Seville Airport is 210 km from Faro, 2 hours 30 minutes to 3 hours 25 minutes by road, against 8 km from FAO. It suits a trip that combines Andalusia and the Algarve, or a flight that fits your dates much better.
