Faro Airport to Albufeira: Route and Drive Time
Albufeira is 45 km west of Faro Airport. Most of the journey is on the A22 motorway, and the EN 395 then brings the car down into town. It usually takes 30–50 minutes.
The motorway is not where the range comes from. The final stretch is: the roads into Albufeira fill with resort traffic in spring and summer, and on a busy afternoon they add more time than the kilometres on the A22. The EN 125, the old coast road, runs parallel and is slower, so it only serves when the motorway is not the better way in.
Journey times vary with traffic and weather. Albufeira has several centres, so give the hotel or apartment with the flight number: coming from the airport, the Strip and Olhos de Água come before the Old Town, and the Marina after it.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Faro Airport
Faro Airport has one terminal, and all passengers leave through the same arrivals hall. On summer Saturdays, when holiday flights arrive one after another, that hall is crowded, and the walk out takes longer.
For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules. A family with buggies and beach bags does not have to hurry through baggage reclaim: the car is booked for the landing, not for the timetable.
Tell us at booking how many cases, buggies and golf bags you are bringing. On the peak days of the year the vehicle is chosen before you land, so a bigger one on the spot is not something to count on.

Arriving at Your Hotel in Albufeira
Albufeira is several places in one. The whitewashed Old Town stands on the cliff above the beaches; the Marina lies about 1.5 km to its west; the Strip, as visitors call Areias de São João at Oura, is about 2 km to the east, with Olhos de Água and Santa Eulália further on, where many villas and beach hotels are.
In the Old Town, many streets are narrow and closed to cars, so the car does not always reach a hotel entrance there; we will tell you the nearest point a car can reach. Elsewhere, apartment complexes and villas usually have a gate or a reception, and their name matters as much as the street.
Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. For a villa, add the house name and any access code from the owner.

From Albufeira Back to Faro Airport
Leaving Albufeira, the useful thing to know is how long the road takes, not when to leave: 30–50 minutes to the terminal, longer in heavy traffic. The pickup time you choose is confirmed with the reservation.
Changeover days, when many guests leave the same morning, put the most traffic on the roads to the airport, and in July and August a single accident on the EN 125 may hold that road up for more than an hour. Keep to the motorway route and choose the pickup time with those days in mind.
If the trip continues by train instead, the pickup can take you to Albufeira-Ferreiras, the station about 6–7 km north of town, where Intercidades trains leave for Lisbon.
