Airport Transfers from Pisa International Airport (PSA) to Portofino

One-Way Transfer
A one-way transfer covers one journey between two addresses: the terminal at Pisa to a hotel above Portofino's harbour, the airport to a hotel on the seafront at Santa Margherita Ligure, or Portofino back to Pisa for an evening flight. For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. For a departure, the pickup time you choose is confirmed with the reservation.
Round-Trip Service
Round-Trip Service books both directions in one reservation: Pisa Airport to your hotel in Portofino or Santa Margherita Ligure, and back to the terminal at Pisa for the flight home. In the Cervara traffic-filter season, from mid-March to 1 November, cars on this coast are busy, so fix the return leg with the arrival. You choose both pickup times, and your confirmation shows them.
Hourly Service
Hourly service keeps one chauffeur and one vehicle with you for a set number of hours. When you book, you set the start at PSA, the final address and the hours you need, and you add the day's plan to the reservation so the chauffeur has it before your flight lands. It suits an arrival day with appointments, not a straight run to one hotel.

Pisa Airport to Portofino: Route and Drive Time

Portofino is 149 km north-west of Pisa Airport, and almost all of it is motorway. The car follows the A12 up the coast past Massa, La Spezia and Sestri Levante, leaves it at Rapallo, and covers the last kilometres on the SP227 through Santa Margherita Ligure. The drive usually takes 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours 20 minutes.

The A12 in Liguria runs through a long series of tunnels and viaducts, and it is the steady part of the trip. The time is set at the end: the SP227 along the shore is a narrow coastal road, and in season a filter at Cervara stops traffic whenever Portofino's car parks have no space left. A hotel in Santa Margherita, 5 km before Portofino, is reached sooner than one in the village.

Journey times vary with traffic and weather. Put the hotel name and street in the booking, and say whether it is in Portofino itself or in Santa Margherita.

Pisa Airport to Portofino: Route and Drive Time

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Pisa Airport

All flights into Pisa share one terminal and one arrivals hall. After baggage reclaim, the A12 is only a few minutes from the car park outside.

For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules. For a Portofino stay booked around a dinner or a boat departure that evening, knowing that the car follows the flight lets you plan the first night with more confidence.

Pisa's terminal is being extended: a new arrivals building, completed in summer 2026, opens after ENAC testing, and work continues to around mid-2027.

Arriving at Your Hotel in Portofino

The last part of the road into Portofino is the SP227 from Santa Margherita Ligure, and in 2026 the Città Metropolitana di Genova runs a traffic filter on it from 14 March to 1 November: at Cervara during the day, and in the village itself in the evening and at night. When the car parks in Portofino are full, cars wait at the filter.

For a hotel in the village, send the full address with the booking and we will tell you the nearest point a car can reach. Many visitors stay in Santa Margherita Ligure instead, 5 km back along the same road, which also has the nearest railway station.

Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. If your first evening is in Portofino but the hotel is in Santa Margherita, give the hotel as the destination and book the evening separately.

From Portofino Back to Pisa Airport

Leaving Portofino, the useful thing to know is how long the road takes, not when to leave: 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours 20 minutes to Pisa Airport, longer in heavy traffic. The pickup time you choose is confirmed with the reservation.

The SP227 back to Rapallo and the A12 is the same narrow road as on arrival, and on summer weekends it is at its busiest in the late morning. Pisa's single terminal means one departures kerb for every airline; still, name yours in the booking.

If you can choose the airport for the flight home, Genoa Airport is 45 km from Portofino, 45 minutes to 1 hour. A trip that ends in Milan works just as well: the city is 169 km away, 2 hours 5 minutes to 2 hours 50 minutes, and the car goes from your hotel to your Milan address.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your airport transfer with Bookinglane.

How long is the transfer from Pisa Airport to Portofino?

Portofino is 149 km from the airport, almost all on the A12. The drive usually takes 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours 20 minutes; the SP227 at the end, and the Cervara filter in season, set most of the difference.

Is Pisa a good airport for Portofino?

Genoa is much closer, 45 km against 149 km. Pisa is worth it when Genoa has no suitable flight, or when your trip also includes Tuscany. Book the transfer from the airport on your ticket.

What is the Cervara traffic filter?

In 2026 the Città Metropolitana di Genova runs a filter on the SP227 from 14 March to 1 November: at Cervara during the day and in Portofino in the evening. When the village car parks are full, cars wait. Send your hotel address with your booking, and we confirm whether the car can reach the entrance or where the nearest drop-off point is.

Where do I meet the chauffeur at Pisa Airport?

Every flight uses the same arrivals hall in Pisa's only terminal. With your luggage collected, look for the chauffeur at the point stated in the confirmation.

Can a coach bring our guests to Portofino?

It depends on the vehicle and the season. In 2025 buses over 9.70 m were barred from part of the SP227 during the day from late May to early November, except those heading to hotels in Santa Margherita and Portofino. Send the guest numbers and hotels with your request so the right vehicles are confirmed.

Is there a train station near Portofino?

Yes, 5 km away in Santa Margherita Ligure; the station carries both town names. Coming from Pisa Airport by car you skip the train changes and arrive at the hotel itself.
