Airport Transfers from Pisa International Airport (PSA) to Pisa

One-Way Transfer
A one-way transfer covers one journey between two addresses: the terminal to a hotel near Piazza dei Miracoli, the airport to a university department in the centre, or your hotel on the Lungarni back to the terminal. For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. For a departure, the pickup time you choose is confirmed with the reservation.
Round-Trip Service
Round-Trip Service books both directions in one reservation: the terminal to your address in Pisa when you arrive, and your address to the terminal when you leave. The drive is short, but through high summer the cars in the area are taken well before the date, so fixing the return together with the arrival is the safer order. You choose both pickup times, and your confirmation shows them.
Hourly Service
Hourly service keeps one chauffeur and one vehicle with you for a set number of hours. When you book, you set the start at PSA, the final address and the hours you need, and you add the day's plan to the reservation so the chauffeur has it before your flight lands. It suits an arrival day with appointments, not a straight run to one hotel.

Pisa Airport to Pisa: Route and Drive Time

From Pisa International Airport to the centre of Pisa it is 4 km, and the drive usually takes 10–15 minutes. The airport lies at the southern edge of the city, about 1 km from the built-up area, so this transfer uses no motorway at all: the car is on city streets within a few minutes of leaving the terminal.

On a route this short, the last part decides the time. It matters which bank of the Arno your address is on, and whether it lies inside the historic centre. An address near Pisa Centrale station, south of the river, comes first; a hotel near Piazza dei Miracoli, on the far side of the centre, takes a few minutes longer.

Journey times vary with traffic and weather. Give the hotel's street together with your flight number, because inside the centre the street decides where a car can go.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Pisa Airport

Pisa has a single passenger terminal and one arrivals area, so a flight from London and a flight from Palermo come out at the same place. You reach that hall after baggage reclaim; the PisaMover stop and the car parks are directly outside it.

For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules. For a visiting lecturer or a client meeting in Pisa, even a ten-minute transfer then starts at a known place and time.

The terminal is being enlarged. Its new 7,100 m² arrivals building, finished in summer 2026, goes into service after ENAC testing; the present arrivals area then becomes part of departures, and the works continue to around mid-2027.

Arriving at Your Address in Pisa

Pisa's historic centre is a ZTL on both banks of the Arno. It is split into five sectors, watched by fourteen camera gates, and active 24 hours a day on every day of the year; in summer a separate night zone also covers the Lungarni. Both railway stations lie outside the perimeter.

Most addresses in the monumental centre, from Piazza dei Cavalieri to the streets around the Leaning Tower, are inside the zone. For a hotel there, send the full address with the booking and we will tell you the nearest point a car can reach.

Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. If you are travelling on by train instead of going to a hotel, give Pisa Centrale as the destination; the PisaMover also links it with the terminal in about 5 minutes, running every 5–8 minutes.

From Pisa Back to Pisa Airport

Leaving Pisa, the useful thing to know is how long the road takes, not when to leave: 10–15 minutes to Pisa Airport, longer in heavy traffic. The pickup time you choose is confirmed with the reservation.

Pisa has one terminal, so the drop-off does not depend on the airline. While the new arrivals building comes into use, the older arrivals hall is turned over to departures, and the entrance you use may change during the works.

A last day does not have to start in Pisa. If you spend the morning in Lucca, a transfer from Lucca straight to the terminal saves the run back into the city; from Livorno, 26 km from the centre of Pisa, or Forte dei Marmi, 45 km, a departure transfer is booked in the same way, with its own pickup time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your airport transfer with Bookinglane.

How long is the transfer from Pisa Airport to the centre of Pisa?

It is a 4 km drive, usually 10–15 minutes. The time depends mostly on where your address is: near Pisa Centrale it is quicker, near Piazza dei Miracoli a little longer.

Where do I meet my chauffeur at Pisa Airport?

Every flight comes out into the same arrivals hall of the single passenger terminal. Once you have your bags, your booking confirmation tells you where to meet your chauffeur.

Is the new arrivals terminal at Pisa open?

The new arrivals building was finished in summer 2026 and opens when ENAC testing is complete; the old arrivals area then becomes departures, and the works run to around mid-2027. Your confirmation names the meeting point in force when you land.

Can the car drive into Pisa's historic centre?

The centre is a ZTL on both banks of the Arno, with fourteen camera gates active at all hours. Give us the hotel's full address when booking, and we confirm whether the car can reach the entrance or where the nearest drop-off point is.

Should I take the PisaMover or a car into Pisa?

The PisaMover runs from the terminal to Pisa Centrale in about 5 minutes. If your hotel is near the station it is a short walk; for an address across the river, or with heavy luggage, a car from the arrivals hall goes straight to the street you give.

Can a coach take our group into the centre of Pisa?

No. Tourist coaches in Pisa may not enter the built-up centre; they set down, collect and park only at the Via Pietrasantina car park, with an authorisation from Pisamo. Give the group's addresses when you book so the set-down point is clear.
