Airport Transfers from Pisa International Airport (PSA) to Florence

One-Way Transfer
A one-way transfer covers one journey between two addresses: the terminal at Pisa to a hotel in the Oltrarno, the airport to the Fortezza da Basso for the first day of a fair, or a Florence apartment back to Pisa for an early flight. For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. For a departure, the pickup time you choose is confirmed with the reservation.
Round-Trip Service
Round-Trip Service books both directions in one reservation: the terminal at Pisa to your Florence address when you land, and that address back to Pisa for the flight home. For Pitti Uomo, held in January and June, when buyers fill the city, reserve the two legs together as soon as the fair dates are out. You choose both pickup times, and your confirmation shows them.
Hourly Service
Hourly service keeps one chauffeur and one vehicle with you for a set number of hours. When you book, you set the start at PSA, the final address and the hours you need, and you add the day's plan to the reservation so the chauffeur has it before your flight lands. It suits an arrival day with appointments, not a straight run to one hotel.

Pisa Airport to Florence: Route and Drive Time

Florence is 84 km east of Pisa Airport. The usual road is the Fi-Pi-Li, the dual carriageway that links Florence, Pisa and Livorno along the Arno valley, and the drive takes 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes. The A11 through the Lucca and Prato side is the other way in; which of the two is used depends on the traffic and on the part of Florence you are going to.

Most of the difference comes at the Florence end. The Fi-Pi-Li reaches the city from the south-west, and the approach roads and avenues around the centre are slow at the morning and evening peaks. An address on the western side, towards the Cascine, comes before a hotel east of the Duomo.

Journey times vary with traffic and weather. Give the hotel's street with your flight number, and the route is chosen for that address.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Pisa Airport

For Florence, Pisa has one practical advantage on arrival: a single terminal with one arrivals area, so there is no terminal to guess. Once your bags are off the belt, you come out into that hall, and the drive east starts from the car park outside.

For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules. For a buyer flying in on the eve of Pitti Uomo with sample cases, the car and the cases leave together, with no change at Pisa Centrale.

A new arrivals building at Pisa was completed in summer 2026 and comes into use after ENAC testing; the current arrivals hall is then turned into departures. Building work goes on into 2027.

Arriving at Your Hotel in Florence

Coming from Pisa, the car reaches Florence from the west, so the first addresses on the way are on that side: the Cascine park, the streets around Santa Maria Novella station and the Oltrarno across the river. Beyond them the historic centre is a ZTL with camera gates, and many hotels near the Duomo and Santa Croce lie inside it; for those, send the full address with the booking and we will tell you the nearest point a car can reach.

For a fair, the district you need is on the same western side. The Fortezza da Basso and the two congress palazzi next to it are a few minutes on foot from Santa Maria Novella, so a hotel near the station suits a week of fair days.

Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. If your first night is in the hills around the city rather than in it, in Fiesole or towards Greve in Chianti, give that address: the car then has no reason to cross the centre.

From Florence Back to Pisa Airport

Leaving Florence, the useful thing to know is how long the road takes, not when to leave: 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes to Pisa Airport, longer in heavy traffic. The pickup time you choose is confirmed with the reservation.

The morning peak around Florence adds most of the uncertainty, so an early flight from Pisa means an early pickup from the city. Name your airline when you book; Pisa has one terminal, and the drop-off is the same for all of them.

On the way back, Pisa can be more than an airport. With a late flight, you can book a transfer from Florence to Piazza dei Miracoli and a second, short one from the Leaning Tower to the terminal, 4 km away. If the stay ends on the coast instead, Lucca is 77 km from Florence and makes a last night on the way to Pisa.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your airport transfer with Bookinglane.

How long does it take to drive from Pisa Airport to Florence?

Florence is 84 km from the airport on the Fi-Pi-Li, and the drive usually takes 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes. The traffic on the approach to Florence decides most of the difference.

Should I fly into Pisa or Florence for a stay in Florence?

Florence Airport is closer, 10 km from the centre. In summer 2025 Pisa offered 78 destinations to Florence's 40, so it often has the flight you want. Whichever you land at, the transfer starts there.

Where do I meet the chauffeur at Pisa Airport?

Pisa has one terminal with one arrivals area. After baggage reclaim, meet the chauffeur at the point stated in your booking confirmation.

Can the car reach my hotel in Florence's historic centre?

The centre is a ZTL with camera gates. Send the hotel address with your booking, and we confirm whether the car can reach the entrance or where the nearest drop-off point is.

Can you take me from Pisa Airport straight to Pitti Uomo?

Yes. Give the Fortezza da Basso as the destination; Pitti Uomo is held there in January and June. Traffic rules near the Fortezza change in fair week; name the fair in your booking and we will tell you the nearest point a car can reach.

Can we see the Leaning Tower on the way from Florence to our flight?

Yes: book a transfer from your Florence address to Piazza dei Miracoli and a second transfer from the tower to the terminal, which is only a short run.
