Naples Airport to Positano: Route and Drive Time
Positano is 62 km from Naples Airport. The car takes the A3 south along the bay, continues on the SS145 across the Sorrento peninsula, and before reaching Sorrento town turns onto the SS163, which crosses to the southern side and runs down to Positano. The drive usually takes 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes.
The SS163 is a short part of the distance but a large part of the time. It is the Amalfi Coast road: narrow and winding, with one lane in each direction, and in high summer it moves more slowly. During the peak months, additional traffic measures are sometimes put in place on particular days.
Journey times vary with traffic and weather. When you book, add the hotel's name and street to the flight number, and say whether the entrance is on the road or down a flight of steps: in Positano that decides where the car sets you down.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Naples Airport
Capodichino works with a single terminal and a single arrivals hall, so a holiday flight from London and a connection from Milan both end at the same exit.
For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules. For Positano that matters more than on a city run, because a late landing moves the coast-road drive into the evening.
Naples Airport is closed from 1 to 30 November 2026 for the runway rebuild. For a Positano stay that month is easier than for most places: many of the diverted flights go to Salerno Costa d'Amalfi, which serves Positano from the other end of the same coast road.

Arriving at Your Hotel in Positano
The main road through Positano is a one-way loop: Viale Pasitea, Piazza dei Mulini and Via Cristoforo Colombo, leaving the SS163 and joining it again. Many hotels stand on this loop or just off it. Below it the centre of the village, towards the beach, is pedestrian-only, and hotels there are reached on foot by lanes and steps. Street parking is for residents.
For vehicles with more than five seats, including the driver, the loop has been a ZTL since March 2024. Villas higher up, in Montepertuso or Nocelle, are reached by their own roads above the town, so give the full address and any directions from the owner.
Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. For a hotel below the road, send the address with the booking and we will tell you the nearest point on the loop.

From Positano Back to Naples Airport
Leaving Positano, the useful thing to know is how long the road takes, not when to leave: 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes to Naples Airport, longer in heavy traffic. The pickup time you choose is confirmed with the reservation.
The slow part of the return comes first. The car leaves the town by the one-way loop and follows the SS163 west over the peninsula before it reaches the faster SS145 and the A3. In high summer the coast road is slower, so choose the pickup time with that stretch in mind.
If your flight home leaves from Salerno Costa d'Amalfi instead, the pickup is the same, and the car turns east along the coast: 59 km, 1 hour to 1 hour 20 minutes. And if the last nights are in Naples, 60 km away, the drop-off is your hotel in the city.
