Airport Transfers from Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) to Bergamo

One-Way Transfer
A one-way transfer covers one journey between two addresses: Terminal 1 to a hotel in Città Alta, Terminal 2 to an address near Bergamo station, or a company office on the edge of Bergamo back to Malpensa for a long-haul departure. For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. For a departure, the pickup time you choose is confirmed with the reservation.
Round-Trip Service
Round-Trip Service books both directions in one reservation: the long run from Malpensa to Bergamo after your flight, and the same road back to Malpensa for the flight home. With 91 km each way, fixing the return early means the departure day is settled before you arrive. You choose both pickup times, and your confirmation shows them.
Hourly Service
Hourly service keeps one chauffeur and one vehicle with you for a set number of hours. When you book, you set the start at MXP, the final address and the hours you need, and you add the day's plan to the reservation so the chauffeur has it before your flight lands. It suits an arrival day with appointments, not a straight run to one hotel.

Malpensa to Bergamo: Route and Drive Time

Bergamo is 91 km east of Malpensa, on the far side of Milan. The car takes the SS336 and the A8 towards Milan, then the A4 eastwards across the north of the city to Bergamo. The drive usually takes 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 35 minutes.

Almost all of the time is spent on the A4. Between the A8 junction and the Bergamo exit it carries heavy traffic through the Lombardy plain, and at the weekday peaks it slows near Milan. Once off the motorway, the lower town is close; Città Alta, on the hill, adds a few minutes of climbing streets.

Journey times vary with traffic and weather. Along with the flight, write out the address and say whether it is in the lower town or in Città Alta, since they are separate addresses for the car.

Malpensa to Bergamo: Route and Drive Time

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Malpensa

Coming to Bergamo through Malpensa usually means a flight that Bergamo's own airport does not offer, most often a long-haul one. Those flights use Terminal 1, as do most airlines; Terminal 2, about 4 km away, is easyJet's terminal and has its own arrivals hall.

For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules. After a night flight and the queue at passport control, the 91 km drive starts when you come out, not at a time fixed weeks earlier.

The non-Schengen wing of Terminal 1 is being enlarged, with works expected to last to 2028. Expect screened-off sections inside; the arrivals areas of both terminals remain open.

Arriving at Your Address in Bergamo

Bergamo has two levels. Città Bassa, the lower town around Porta Nuova, holds the station, offices and many hotels; Città Alta, the walled upper town, sits on the hill and is linked to it by a funicular. Città Alta's old core is a limited-traffic zone behind camera gates.

Within the walls, the car's access depends on the street and the permits, so the drop-off point may be at a gate rather than the door. Addresses in the lower town are simpler. Company visits often lie outside the centre, in the industrial areas around the city; give the full company address, not just "Bergamo".

Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. Do the same for the address where the return trip to Malpensa begins.

Arriving at Your Address in Bergamo

From Bergamo Back to Malpensa

Leaving Bergamo, the useful thing to know is how long the road takes, not when to leave: 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 35 minutes to Malpensa, longer in heavy traffic. The pickup time you choose is confirmed with the reservation.

The A4 towards Milan is the uncertain part: weekday mornings and late afternoons are the slow times. Write the terminal into the booking, 2 if you fly easyJet and 1 otherwise, and the car heads for that building.

If your European connection leaves from Bergamo's own airport, Orio al Serio is only 7 km from the centre; if it leaves from Malpensa, this is the run to book. A stay that ends in Milan can finish at your Milan hotel, 52 km from Bergamo, instead.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your airport transfer with Bookinglane.

How long does the drive from Malpensa to Bergamo take?

Bergamo is 91 km from Malpensa. The route runs on the A8 and then the A4 across the north of Milan, and normally takes 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 35 minutes; weekday peaks on the A4 add time.

Bergamo has its own airport. Why fly into Malpensa?

Orio al Serio is 7 km from the city and is the obvious choice when your flight lands there. Malpensa is for flights Orio does not have, above all long-haul routes arriving at Terminal 1.

Can the car take me up to Città Alta?

The historic centre of Città Alta is a ZTL with camera gates. Send the hotel address with the booking, and we confirm whether the car can reach the entrance or where the nearest drop-off point is.

Which Malpensa terminal will I use?

easyJet passengers use Terminal 2; everyone else, long-haul travellers among them, uses Terminal 1. The buildings stand 4 km from each other with separate arrivals halls, so look at the ticket before booking.

Our group arrives partly at Malpensa and partly at Orio al Serio. How do we book?

Each arrival is booked as its own transfer, with a vehicle for that flight's passengers and luggage. If you book for others, the whole programme can sit in one account, and each transfer is booked and confirmed separately.

My long-haul flight is late. What happens to the transfer?

The pickup moves with it: the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time.
