Airport Transfers from Milan Bergamo Airport (BGY) to Bergamo

One-Way Transfer
A one-way transfer covers one journey between two addresses: the terminal to a hotel near Porta Nuova, the terminal to a guesthouse inside the walls of Città Alta, or Bergamo station to the airport for an early flight. For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. For a departure, the pickup time you choose is confirmed with the reservation.
Round-Trip Service
Round-Trip Service books both directions in one reservation: the terminal at Orio al Serio to your Bergamo address when you arrive, and your address to departures when you fly out. In winter many ski clubs and school parties pass through this airport, so fix your departure run when you book the arrival, not in the last days of your stay. You choose both pickup times, and your confirmation shows them.
Hourly Service
Hourly service keeps one chauffeur and one vehicle with you for a set number of hours. When you book, you set the start at BGY, the final address and the hours you need, and you add the day's plan to the reservation so the chauffeur has it before your flight lands. It suits an arrival day with appointments, not a straight run to one hotel.

Orio al Serio to Bergamo: Route and Drive Time

Milan Bergamo Airport stands at Orio al Serio, 7 km from Porta Nuova, the centre of the lower town. The drive usually takes 15–20 minutes, and the route runs on the city's approach roads, not on the motorway.

On a run this short, the distance hardly varies; the clock and the part of town decide the time. Città Bassa, with Porta Nuova and the railway station, is the quick case. Città Alta, up on the hill inside its walls, lies about 3 km beyond the lower town by road, so a hotel up there adds a few minutes of climbing.

Journey times vary with traffic and weather. With your flight number, give the hotel name and street: for Bergamo, which level you stay on matters more than the kilometres.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Orio al Serio

The airport works from one long terminal. Schengen and non-Schengen flights both arrive on the ground floor, with departures on the floor above, so whatever your origin you come out through the same arrivals exit.

For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules.

Two projects are under way. The terminal is being extended, adding a new check-in hall and more space for non-Schengen departures. A rail link from Bergamo station to the airport is being built and is now due in 2028, so for the time being the terminal is reached by road only.

Arriving at Your Hotel in Bergamo

Bergamo has two levels, linked by a funicular. Città Bassa holds the station, Porta Nuova and many business hotels. Città Alta, inside the Venetian walls, is a limited-traffic zone at all hours, with camera gates at its entrances and, since December 2025, at its exits too. In the lower town, a few central streets are closed to traffic, among them Via XX Settembre and Piazza Pontida.

For accommodation within the walls, send the full address with the booking and we will tell you the nearest point a car can reach. If you stay in Città Bassa, the car can usually reach the entrance directly, but give the street and number so the approach is clear.

Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. Your pickup for the flight home is handled the same way.

From Bergamo Back to Orio al Serio

Leaving Bergamo, the useful thing to know is how long the road takes, not when to leave: 15–20 minutes from the lower town to Orio al Serio, longer in heavy traffic. The pickup time you choose is confirmed with the reservation.

With a single terminal there is no terminal to name: the car sets you down at departures, on the upper floor. From Città Alta, allow a few extra minutes for the road down the hill.

A last day of meetings in Bergamo and an evening flight can sit in one hourly booking that ends at the terminal. If you arrived by train and fly out of Orio, the pickup can be your hotel in Città Alta, Città Bassa, or the station itself.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your airport transfer with Bookinglane.

How long is the transfer from Bergamo Airport to Bergamo city centre?

The drive is 7 km, usually 15–20 minutes, from the terminal to Porta Nuova in the lower town. For a hotel up in Città Alta, add roughly 3 km of road up the hill.

Where do I meet my chauffeur at Orio al Serio?

The airport has one terminal, and all flights, Schengen and non-Schengen, arrive on the ground floor. There is one arrivals exit, and your booking confirmation tells you where to meet.

Can the car drive into Città Alta?

The walled upper town is a limited-traffic zone at all hours, with camera gates at the entrances and the exits. Send the full address of your hotel with the booking, and we will tell you whether the car can reach the entrance or where the nearest drop-off point is.

Is there a train from Bergamo Airport to the city?

Not yet. The railway between Bergamo station and the airport is being built and is now expected in 2028. Until it opens, the airport is reached by road, a 7 km drive that the car takes to your address rather than to a station.

What happens if my flight to Orio al Serio lands late?

The pickup moves with it: the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Give the flight number when you book.

Our group arrives in winter on several flights. How do we book?

Each arrival is booked as its own transfer, and each vehicle fits the headcount and bags of its own flight, ski bags too. Book early: in winter local vehicles and drivers are committed well ahead.
