Málaga Airport to Granada: Route and Drive Time
Granada is 136 km from Málaga Airport and, unlike the coastal resorts, lies inland. The car skirts Málaga, climbs north through the mountains on the AP-46, joins the A-92M and then runs east on the A-92, arriving on the western side of Granada, where the station and the city's own airport road also lie. The drive takes 1 hour 35 minutes to 2 hours 10 minutes.
The mountain section between the coast and the Granada plain sets most of the time. In winter, weather on that climb can slow the road, and in the city itself the last kilometres depend on how far across town your hotel sits: the congress district is close to the western approach, the Alhambra and the Albaicín on the far side.
Journey times vary with traffic and weather. Put the flight number and the hotel in the booking, and for a congress, the session you need to reach.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Málaga Airport
For a delegation flying in to Málaga for a meeting in Granada, the terminal works in the delegates' favour: T2 and T3 are linked, and every arriving flight comes out on floor 0. From the baggage reclaim hall you go into the arrivals hall, where the Aena information desk is.
For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules. With two hours of driving still to come, it helps the organiser as well: a late flight shifts the car, and the programme in Granada can be adjusted from the new landing time.
International flights are the reason delegations come through Málaga rather than Granada: in 2025 the airport carried 22.25 million passengers on international routes, 7.8% more than a year earlier. Give each delegate's flight number, and the transfers can be grouped by landing time.

Arriving at Your Hotel in Granada
The whole of Granada is a low-emission zone, around the clock. Inside it, the Albaicín, Sacromonte, the Realejo and parts of the centre are access-controlled areas: bollards and number-plate cameras admit only authorised vehicles and public transport. Guests of registered accommodation inside those areas are treated as residents and use one authorised route, which the hotel can explain.
Outside those quarters access is simpler. The Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos, with auditoriums for 2,000 and 550, has more than 4,000 hotel rooms within a walk of its doors, and the railway station, about 2 km from the centre, is on Avenida de los Andaluces.
Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. For a guesthouse on a pedestrian lane in the Albaicín, we will tell you the nearest point a car can reach.

From Granada Back to Málaga Airport
Leaving Granada, the useful thing to know is how long the road takes, not when to leave: 1 hour 35 minutes to 2 hours 10 minutes back down to Málaga, longer in heavy traffic. The pickup time you choose is confirmed with the reservation.
The climb over the mountains is the part to allow for in winter weather, and a hotel in the east of the city adds the crossing of town before the A-92. At the airport, check-in is on floor 1, above the arrivals hall.
If you would rather spend the last night on the coast, the drop-off can be a hotel in Málaga, 127 km from Granada, with a short run to the terminal the next morning booked separately.
