Stuttgart Airport to Stuttgart: Route and Drive Time
The terminals stand on the Filder plateau, south of the city, so the trip into Stuttgart heads north. By road it is 14 km, usually 30–40 minutes, most of it on the B27. When commuter traffic is heavy, or when a large fair has just opened beside the terminals, expect the upper figure.
The final stretch depends on the address. A hotel by the Schlossplatz or the Marktplatz is in the middle of town; the Hauptbahnhof, still the old terminus while the Stuttgart 21 works go on, is close by. The Cannstatter Wasen, the festival ground in Bad Cannstatt, is a different direction again, and there the gate you need matters more than the street.
Journey times vary with traffic and weather. Put your terminal and flight number in the booking, together with the full street address.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Stuttgart Airport
STR has four terminals. Terminals 1, 2 and 3 share one building, while Terminal 4 stands on its own a few minutes away on foot, so give your terminal in the booking and the car goes there. Your ticket or the airline app shows which one your flight uses.
For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules.
A visit to Stuttgart can start at the exhibition centre rather than in the city, because the halls stand right beside the terminals. If you go to your stand first and to the hotel only in the evening, book the run from the airport to the halls and the evening drive into town as two separate transfers.

Arriving at Your Address in Stuttgart
The centre of Stuttgart is a chain of squares: the Schlossplatz, the Marktplatz, the Schillerplatz and the Karlsplatz. From late November the Christmas market spreads across them, and the streets around fill with stalls and visitors. If your hotel is in that part of town, send the full address with the booking and we will tell you how close the car can go.
Parts of the city are also covered by a low-emission zone (Umweltzone) and by additional bans on older diesel vehicles. Such rules decide which vehicles may enter a street, one more reason to give the exact address rather than only a district.
The ICS congress centre is out at the airport, not in town. A delegate staying in Stuttgart therefore drives back up to the Filder plateau each morning.

From Stuttgart Back to Stuttgart Airport
Work out the pickup from the length of the drive, not from a fixed hour: from the centre to the terminals it takes 30–40 minutes on a normal day. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it. Name the departure terminal too; if your airline flies from Terminal 4, the car pulls up at that building rather than at the main one.
Two city calendars call for extra margin. The Frühlingsfest occupies the Cannstatter Wasen from mid-April into May, and the Cannstatter Volksfest runs there for 17 days from late September, with around 4 million visitors. In January the CMT fills the exhibition halls by the airport, and then the traffic builds at the airport end of the route instead.
A traveller with a late meeting near the Hauptbahnhof can be collected at the office door and go straight to the terminal.
