Stuttgart Airport to Esslingen: Route and Drive Time
Esslingen lies north-east of the airport, in the Neckar valley below the Filder plateau. The road distance is 16 km, and a car normally takes 30–40 minutes on the L1192 and a short section of the A8. That motorway stretch sets the pace: in the morning peak it slows down, while at quieter hours the drive stays close to the lower figure.
Inside the town, the destination splits the trip in two. Berkheim, the district where Festo has its headquarters, and the old town around the Marktplatz are separate parts of Esslingen, so a visitor bound for the automation company and one heading for a hotel in the centre finish in quite different streets.
Journey times vary with traffic and weather. Add the flight number, the terminal and the full address to the booking.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Stuttgart Airport
Stuttgart Airport runs four terminals: three of them under one roof and Terminal 4 in a separate building a short walk away. Because they are not all in one place, give your terminal in the booking and the car goes there.
For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules.
Visitors to Esslingen's engineering firms can come from abroad. In 2025, 39 airlines flew from STR to 124 destinations in 40 countries, and Festo employs more than 20,000 people worldwide, so a customer team may land from several countries on one day. Each of those flights can be booked as its own pickup, with its own confirmation.

Arriving at Your Address in Esslingen
Esslingen, a town of around 90,000 people, describes itself as a city of engineers, and its business addresses show why: electrical engineering, vehicle and machine building are its main industries. For Festo, name the building or the gate in Berkheim rather than only the company, as the address alone may not tell the chauffeur which entrance you need.
The old town around the Marktplatz is the other usual destination. From late November until shortly before Christmas, the medieval and Christmas market takes it over with about 180 stalls, craftsmen and performers, and it draws more than a million visitors a year.
Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. In the market weeks, a hotel entrance at the edge of the old town may be the more practical stop.

From Esslingen Back to Stuttgart Airport
For the flight home, count back from the drive itself: 30–40 minutes from Esslingen to the terminals when the roads are clear, more when the A8 is busy in the morning. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
The terminal matters at this end. If your airline departs from Terminal 4, say so in the booking, because the car then pulls up at the separate building rather than at Terminals 1 to 3.
On the Esslingen side, Advent is the season to watch. During the market weeks the old town stays busy into the evening, so a pickup from a hotel there needs extra margin. A guest who has spent the last day in Stuttgart can ride the S1 back to Esslingen station, about 17 minutes, and be collected there for the airport.
