Münster Osnabrück Airport to Bielefeld: Route and Drive Time
Bielefeld is 88 km east of the airport by road, a drive of 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 35 minutes. After the A1 and the A30, the A33 brings the car to the edge of the city, and the B61 covers the last stretch into the centre.
The Teutoburg Forest runs straight through Bielefeld, so the side of the ridge you are heading for makes a difference. The Ostwestfalendamm, the urban expressway, links the districts on either side and carries much of the cross-town traffic. Company sites such as Dr. Oetker, DMG Mori or Schüco, the university founded in 1969 and the Bethel foundation each lie in their own part of the city.
Journey times vary with traffic and weather. Add the flight number and the precise address, with the company or the Bethel facility, when you book.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Münster Osnabrück Airport
At FMO, two connected buildings form the terminal, and your airline decides which one you walk out of. Give your terminal in the booking and the car goes there.
For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules.
Three airlines carry most of the traffic here: SunExpress, Lufthansa and Ryanair each flew around a fifth of the passengers in 2025. Lufthansa has timed its Munich flights for connections to North and South America and Asia. For a business guest to Bielefeld that usually means Lufthansa through Munich, and for a family returning from Turkey a SunExpress flight from Antalya.

Arriving at Your Address in Bielefeld
With about 331,000 residents, Bielefeld is the 18th-largest city in Germany and the seat of several company headquarters. Dr. Oetker, the food group, is based here; so are DMG Mori, the machine-tool maker that grew out of Gildemeister, and Schüco, which makes windows and façades. Visitors to a plant should give the gate as well as the street.
Bethel, one of Europe's largest Protestant social-welfare foundations, occupies a district of its own, with many buildings; name the facility you are visiting. Above the old town stands the Sparrenburg, the castle built around 1240–1250 that serves as the city's landmark.
Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up, from a hotel in the centre to a lecture building at the university.

From Bielefeld Back to Münster Osnabrück Airport
The return drive lasts 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 35 minutes, so plan by its length: leave enough room for a slow A33 or A30 before check-in. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
On a match day the city side needs extra time. Arminia Bielefeld plays its home games at the SchücoArena, and crowds fill the roads around the ground before and after kick-off; a pickup in that part of town is better scheduled away from those hours.
Around the turn of May and June the city festival, the Leineweber-Markt, takes over the old town, so allow more time for a pickup there.
At FMO the car takes you to the terminal printed on your ticket. A guest leaving from a plant tour can be collected at the factory gate rather than at the hotel.
