Düsseldorf Airport to Dusseldorf: Route and Drive Time
The airport lies on the northern edge of Düsseldorf, and the centre is just 9 km away, usually 20–25 minutes by car. The trade fair grounds sit between the two, about 5 km and 15–20 minutes from the terminal, so a car bound for a hall entrance has no need to enter the centre at all.
Beyond the Messe, the quarter decides the last stretch. The Königsallee, the Kö, is the shopping boulevard at the heart of the city; the Altstadt, with around 260 pubs, bars and restaurants, runs from the Kö to the Rhine; and the MedienHafen, a converted harbour with the Rheinturm and the Gehry buildings, lies to the south.
Journey times vary with traffic and weather, and a fair day in the north of the city moves the drive towards the upper figure. Put the flight number and the full street address in the booking.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Düsseldorf Airport
DUS counted 21 million passengers in 2025, about 57,600 on an average day and more than 80,000 on peak days, and all of them pass through a single terminal divided into piers A, B and C. Which pier your aircraft uses makes no difference to the booking: the car is planned for the terminal building, not for a gate.
For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules.
On a fair morning the short distance pays off. A stand crew landing at breakfast time can ride from the terminal directly to the halls and reach the hotel only in the evening, when the build-up work is done.

Arriving at Your Address in Dusseldorf
The city's addresses fall into a handful of quarters, each with its own kind of visitor. The Kö draws shoppers and hotel guests; the Altstadt beside it is the evening district between the boulevard and the river. To the south, offices fill the old harbour around the Rheinturm and the state parliament, and near the main station, around Immermannstraße, lies the Japanese quarter.
Düsseldorf also has a low-emission zone (Umweltzone). Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. For the MedienHafen, add the building name to the street; for the Altstadt, the name of the hotel is the clearest target.
If you are visiting a Japanese firm or a consulate, the company name in the booking helps the chauffeur find the right entrance on a busy street.

From Dusseldorf Back to Düsseldorf Airport
Count back from your flight by the length of the drive: 20–25 minutes from the centre on an ordinary day, longer in the rush hours or when a fair fills the north of the city. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
At the airport end there is nothing to choose, because every departure leaves from the one terminal, whichever pier the boarding pass shows.
Two seasons change the city side. Each July the Rheinkirmes takes over the Rhine meadows in Oberkassel for ten days, in 2027 from 16 to 25 July, with about 4 million visitors, and the bridges across the river fill up. The Christmas markets in the Altstadt and on the Kö run from 20 November to 30 December 2026. A hotel close to either needs a little more margin on those days.
