Düsseldorf Airport to Duisburg: Route and Drive Time
Duisburg lies north of the airport, where the Ruhr flows into the Rhine. By road it is 24 km on the A3 and A52, usually 35–45 minutes, and the motorway junctions just north of the airport are where traffic gathers at peak times.
The final leg depends on which part of the city you need. The port stretches along both rivers, and Ruhrort, its historic district, lies 4 km from the centre. The Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord in Meiderich is 8 km out, while the Hauptbahnhof and a cluster of hotels are in the centre itself, so a delegation bound for a container terminal and a guest bound for a hotel may finish the same trip several kilometres apart.
Journey times vary with traffic and weather. For a terminal or a warehouse in the port, add the company name and the gate to the booking.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Düsseldorf Airport
By rail, the trip to Duisburg starts with the SkyTrain from the terminal to the airport's long-distance station, followed by a train to Duisburg Hauptbahnhof. Some 130,000 people pass through that station daily, and building work on its platform canopies goes on, one pair of platforms at a time, until 2028. With luggage, a car from the terminal saves both changes.
For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules.
Whether your aircraft docks at pier A, B or C, it is the same building, and nothing about the pier goes into the booking. A logistics manager landing for an afternoon meeting at the port can go straight there and leave the hotel for later.

Arriving at Your Address in Duisburg
Business in Duisburg happens largely on the water. No inland port in Europe is bigger than Duisburg's, where over 20,000 vessels call each year and more than 40 million tonnes of cargo cross the quays. Freight trains from China have ended their journey here since 2011. Terminals, warehouses and shipping offices spread across several harbour basins.
The University of Duisburg-Essen brings researchers and students, and the centre around the Hauptbahnhof holds the hotels and offices. In Meiderich, the Landschaftspark is a former ironworks turned into a public park and events venue.
Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. In the port, a street address can cover a large site, so name the company and the gate; at the Landschaftspark, name the hall or the entrance.

From Duisburg Back to Düsseldorf Airport
Plan the return by the length of the drive: 35–45 minutes from the centre outside the rush hours, longer when the A3 is busy with commuters and lorries from the port. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
At the airport, every departure leaves from the same terminal, so the car needs no further detail at that end.
On the city side, the starting point counts. A visitor finishing the day with a meeting in Ruhrort can be collected at the company rather than at the hotel, and an evening at the Landschaftspark, where the light installation comes on at dusk at weekends and on public holidays, is best followed by a pickup booked for a set time at the main entrance. The Weisse Flotte harbour tours run from March to October and start at the Schwanentor pier, so name the pier if a tour ends your day.
