Airport Transfers from Linz Airport (LNZ) to Linz

One-Way Transfer
A one-way transfer covers one journey between two addresses: the terminal to a start-up office in the Tabakfabrik, the airport to a congress at the Design Center, or a hotel near the Hauptplatz back to Hörsching for an early flight. For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. For a departure, the pickup time you choose is confirmed with the reservation.
Round-Trip Service
Round-Trip Service books both directions in one reservation: Hörsching into Linz on your arrival day, and your Linz address back out to the airport for the flight home. Book both legs together when Ars Electronica is on in September, or when the Design Center hosts its autumn congresses in October and November: those are the dates when Linz runs short of vehicles. You choose both pickup times, and both appear in your booking confirmation.
Hourly Service
Hourly service keeps one chauffeur and one vehicle with you for a set number of hours. When you book, you set the start at LNZ, the final address and the hours you need, and you add the day's plan to the reservation so the chauffeur has it before your flight lands. It suits an arrival day with appointments, not a straight run to one hotel.

Linz Airport to Linz: Route and Drive Time

Linz Airport is at Hörsching, 13 km south-west of the city centre. It lies close to both the A1 motorway and the B1 through road, and the car comes into Linz on one of them; the drive usually takes 15–25 minutes.

How long it takes depends above all on where in Linz you are going. The Design Center, just south of the Landstraße, and the hotels around the Hauptplatz are the nearer addresses. The Tabakfabrik sits further east, between the old town and the industrial area, and the voestalpine works stretch along the Danube on the far side of the centre from the airport, so a plant visit is the longest of the short runs.

Journey times vary with traffic and weather. Add the address to the booking, and for the works, the gate or building you are expected at: the site is large, and the right entrance saves a detour.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Linz Airport

Linz is a small airport with a simple layout. There is one passenger terminal, with arrivals and check-in on the ground floor and the gates upstairs, so every scheduled flight ends at the same arrivals area and the same exit.

For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules.

Business jets and chartered flights are handled differently. They clear through the General Aviation Centre, a separate building with its own check-in and customs, so if a customer or a management team is flying in privately for a plant visit, say so when you book, and the chauffeur meets you at the aviation centre rather than at the terminal.

The airport is growing quickly: it handled around 262,000 passengers in 2025, up 45 per cent on 2024.

Arriving at Your Address in Linz

Central Linz is compact, but parts of it are closed to cars. The Landstraße, the main shopping street, is pedestrianised over 1.3 km, running from the Hauptplatz as far as the Musiktheater, and the Hauptplatz itself is car-free except for taxis. A hotel on or just off the square may therefore mean a set-down at the nearest street a car can use.

Business addresses are mostly outside that core. The Design Center, south of the Landstraße, takes congresses and trade fairs; the Tabakfabrik, a former tobacco factory, now houses more than 250 companies and start-ups; and the voestalpine works line the river to the east. Each has its own entrance, and each is an easy drop-off by car.

Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up.

From Linz Back to Linz Airport

Leaving Linz, the useful thing to know is how long the road takes, not when to leave: 15–25 minutes from the centre to Hörsching, longer in heavy traffic. The pickup time you choose is confirmed with the reservation.

The drop-off is easy to get right, because there is only one passenger terminal. From the voestalpine side of the city the run is longer than from the Hauptplatz, so after a meeting at the works choose the pickup with that in mind. During the Ars Electronica week in September many festival guests leave on the same days; book the return early.

If your flight home leaves from Vienna, not Linz, the airport there is 210 km away, 2 hours 20 minutes to 3 hours 10 minutes on the A1. That is a separate transfer from your Linz address, and a longer one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your airport transfer with Bookinglane.

How far is Linz Airport from the city centre?

It is 13 km from Hörsching to the centre, normally 15–25 minutes by car. Addresses near the Hauptplatz and the Design Center are the quicker ones; the voestalpine works on the far side of the city take longest.

Where will my chauffeur meet me at Linz Airport?

At the only passenger terminal: arrivals are on the ground floor and there is one exit; your booking confirmation shows the exact spot. For a private or chartered flight through the General Aviation Centre, the pickup is at that building instead.

What happens if my flight to Linz lands late?

The pickup moves with it: the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time.

Can the car take me to a hotel on the Hauptplatz?

The Hauptplatz is car-free apart from taxis, and the Landstraße is a pedestrian zone, so the car may stop in a nearby street. Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up.

Is it better to fly to Linz or to Vienna for a trip to Linz?

Linz Airport is 13 km from the centre; Vienna Airport is 210 km away, a drive of 2 hours 20 minutes to 3 hours 10 minutes. Vienna has far more flights, so it depends on your route, but when a flight to Linz fits your dates, it saves most of a morning.

What do you need to know about Linz Airport in 2026–2027?

The airport is growing: around 262,000 passengers used it in 2025, 45 per cent more than in 2024, the sharpest growth of any Austrian airport. The layout stays the same, with one terminal, one exit and a separate General Aviation Centre for private and chartered flights.
