Airport Transfers from Klagenfurt Airport (KLU) to Graz

One-Way Transfer
A one-way transfer covers one journey between two addresses: KLU to Messe Congress Graz, KLU to the AVL headquarters, or a hotel near the Herrengasse back to Klagenfurt Airport for an afternoon flight. For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. For a departure, the pickup time you choose is confirmed with the reservation.
Round-Trip Service
Round-Trip Service books both directions in one reservation: KLU to your hotel in Graz after landing, and the motorway back to Klagenfurt Airport before your flight home. Congress weeks at Messe Congress Graz in spring and autumn, and Advent in the old town, take local cars early, so the return is best booked in the same step as the arrival. You choose both pickup times, and both appear in your booking confirmation.
Hourly Service
Hourly service keeps one chauffeur and one vehicle with you for a set number of hours. When you book, you set the start at KLU, the final address and the hours you need, and you add the day's plan to the reservation so the chauffeur has it before your flight lands. It suits an arrival day with appointments, not a straight run to one hotel.

Klagenfurt Airport to Graz: Route and Drive Time

Graz is 133 km east of Klagenfurt Airport. The car leaves by the airport's own A2 exit, about a kilometre from the terminal, and follows the Südautobahn east over the Pack into Styria. The drive usually takes 1 hour 35 minutes to 2 hours 15 minutes, almost all of it on the motorway.

Why land at Klagenfurt for Graz? Usually because of the flight. KLU connects to the Vienna hub, and once Austrian Airlines drops Graz–Vienna with the winter timetable on 25 October 2026, a connection through Vienna reaches this part of Austria at Klagenfurt. Others combine Graz with a few days at the Wörthersee, or with a meeting at Lakeside Park before driving east.

Journey times vary with traffic and weather. In Graz the address sets the last part: the old town, the Messe in Jakomini and the plants in the south of the city are different runs.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Klagenfurt Airport

If you land at KLU on the way to Graz, getting out of the terminal takes little time. It is one small building for domestic and international flights, with a short walk from the baggage belt to the door and a single exit that every passenger uses.

For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules. When the connecting flight from Vienna is late, the two-hour drive east simply begins later, at the real landing time.

Because the airport has its own motorway exit, signed Klagenfurt Flughafen, the car is on the A2 towards Graz almost at once, without crossing Klagenfurt.

Arriving at Your Hotel or Meeting in Graz

A drive of two hours from Carinthia usually ends at a working address. AVL, the largest private employer in Styria, has its headquarters in Graz, and Magna Steyr builds cars at Thondorf; both are part of one of the largest automotive clusters in Europe. Messe Congress Graz in Jakomini takes up to 3,000 delegates. For a plant, give the gate or building rather than only the company name.

If you are going to the hotel first and it is in the Altstadt, bear in mind that cars are kept out of the Herrengasse and the Hauptplatz, where only trams and pedestrians move, and the drop-off is the closest point the rules permit. The Hauptbahnhof is on the western side of the centre, for anyone continuing by Railjet.

Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up.

From Graz Back to Klagenfurt Airport

Leaving Graz, the useful thing to know is how long the road takes, not when to leave: 1 hour 35 minutes to 2 hours 15 minutes to Klagenfurt Airport, longer in heavy traffic. The pickup time you choose is confirmed with the reservation.

At Klagenfurt everything leaves from one building, so the destination is simply the airport. What deserves attention is the Graz side: in Advent, from late November to Christmas Eve, the streets around the old town are full, and leaving from a hotel there is slower than from the Messe or a plant in the south.

If the trip ends with a night at the lake before the flight, split it into two bookings: Graz to the hotel on the Wörthersee, then the hotel to KLU. From Velden it is 30 km back to KLU.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your airport transfer with Bookinglane.

How long does the transfer from Klagenfurt Airport to Graz take?

Graz is 133 km east of the airport on the A2 over the Pack, usually 1 hour 35 minutes to 2 hours 15 minutes. The car joins the motorway at the airport's own exit, so the time is set by the motorway and the address in Graz.

Why would I fly into Klagenfurt for Graz?

For the flight. KLU connects to the Vienna hub, and from 25 October 2026 Graz will have no Vienna flight, so a connection through Vienna ends at Klagenfurt. For flights via Frankfurt or Munich, Graz Airport, 10 km from the city, is the closer choice.

What happens if my flight to Klagenfurt is late?

The pickup moves with it: the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time.

Can the car take us straight to a plant in Graz, not the hotel?

Yes, book the plant as the destination. AVL has its headquarters in Graz and Magna Steyr builds cars at Thondorf; give the gate or building. Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up.

Is the Koralmbahn faster than the car?

Between the two main stations, yes: the fastest trains take 41 minutes. From the airport, though, the train needs a transfer to Klagenfurt Hauptbahnhof first and another from Graz Hauptbahnhof to your address. The car runs from the arrivals exit to the address in Graz in one journey.

What do you need to know about this route in 2026–2027?

From 25 October 2026, when the winter timetable starts, Graz will have no Vienna flight, while Klagenfurt keeps its connection to the Vienna hub. At KLU the departure hall is under reconstruction, with more building planned on the site; the arrivals side, one small terminal, stays unchanged.
