Airport Transfers from Innsbruck Airport (INN) to Obergurgl

One-Way Transfer
A one-way transfer covers one journey between two addresses: Innsbruck Airport to a hotel in Obergurgl, the terminal to the Universitätszentrum at the edge of the pistes, or a hotel in Hochgurgl back to INN for your flight. For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. For a departure, the pickup time you choose is confirmed with the reservation.
Round-Trip Service
Round-Trip Service books both directions in one reservation: Innsbruck Airport to Obergurgl or Hochgurgl at the start of the stay, and down the full length of the Ötztal to INN when it ends. Plan the return first, because on a winter Saturday the guests of every village below you leave on the same road, and the airport is at its charter peak. You choose both pickup times, and both appear in your booking confirmation.
Hourly Service
Hourly service keeps one chauffeur and one vehicle with you for a set number of hours. When you book, you set the start at INN, the final address and the hours you need, and you add the day's plan to the reservation so the chauffeur has it before your flight lands. It suits an arrival day with appointments, not a straight run to one hotel.

Innsbruck Airport to Obergurgl: Route and Drive Time

Obergurgl is 100 km from Innsbruck Airport, at the very end of the Ötztal. The first half is the A12 motorway west to the Ötztal exit; the second is 52 km on the B186, past Längenfeld, then Sölden, then Zwieselstein, with the last part climbing in stages to the valley head at 1,930 m. The drive usually takes 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes.

It is the longest run in the Ötztal from INN, and the valley stretch sets its length. Every village below Obergurgl uses the same road, so on a winter Saturday the traffic of the whole valley is in front of you.

Journey times vary with traffic and weather. A booking for Hochgurgl continues further up the Timmelsjoch road after Obergurgl, so name the settlement as well as the hotel.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Innsbruck Airport

Not everyone bound for Obergurgl is on a ski charter. The University of Innsbruck runs a conference centre there, and a researcher or a seminar group may land midweek on a scheduled flight. INN is simple for them: a single passenger terminal from the 1964 Winter Olympics, one arrivals area for all airlines.

For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules. With some 100 km still ahead, a late landing simply shifts the start of the drive up the valley.

A midweek arrival also misses the Saturday rush. In the season the airport restricts landing slots on Saturdays and a week of ski charters comes in within a few hours; on a Tuesday the same hall is far quieter.

Arriving at Your Hotel in Obergurgl or Hochgurgl

Obergurgl and Hochgurgl are one ski area with two separate addresses. The village sits at 1,930 m, while Hochgurgl's hotels stand at 2,150 m, close to 200 m above it and further up towards the pass. Skiers cross between them in nine minutes on the Top Express lift, but by car they are separate destinations. The Universitätszentrum Obergurgl stands at the edge of the pistes.

The transfer runs straight to your address, not to a central drop-off in the village. For a group staying at two hotels, one in each settlement, say so when you book, since the second address adds the climb to Hochgurgl.

Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up.

From Obergurgl Back to Innsbruck Airport

Leaving Obergurgl, the useful thing to know is how long the road takes, not when to leave: 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes, longer in heavy traffic. The pickup time you choose is confirmed with the reservation.

In winter there is only one way down. Above Hochgurgl the pass road to the Timmelsjoch stays shut for the whole season, so the car follows the valley road back through Sölden to the motorway, and the university's travel advice for visitors to its Obergurgl centre is to have snow chains with them. Between 1 November and 15 April Austrian law requires winter tyres whenever conditions are wintry, and buses run on them all season whatever the weather.

For a train home, Ötztal Bahnhof is 52 km down the valley; book the car to the station exactly as you would to the terminal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your airport transfer with Bookinglane.

How long is the transfer from Innsbruck Airport to Obergurgl?

The distance is 100 km: the A12 to the Ötztal exit, then 52 km up the B186 through Sölden to the head of the valley. The drive usually takes 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes.

What happens if my flight to Innsbruck is late?

The pickup moves with it: the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time.

Is Hochgurgl the same destination as Obergurgl?

No. Hochgurgl consists of its own hotels at 2,150 m, almost 200 m above the village on the Timmelsjoch road. The two are joined by a lift on snow, not by a street, so book the transfer to the right settlement and hotel.

Do we need snow chains on the road to Obergurgl?

That is the driver's side of the job. The University of Innsbruck advises visitors driving themselves to carry chains; in winter the valley road is the only access, as the Timmelsjoch is closed.

Where will my chauffeur meet me at Innsbruck Airport?

INN has one passenger terminal, used by every airline. Your booking confirmation shows where in its arrivals area to meet your chauffeur.

What do you need to know about the INN–Obergurgl route in 2026–2027?

In winter 2026–2027 the Timmelsjoch stays closed for the season, so all traffic reaches Obergurgl from the Ötztal exit, and INN restricts landing slots on Saturdays. Reserve the Christmas fortnight and any winter Saturday well ahead.
