Airport Transfers from Porto Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport (OPO) to Porto

One-Way Transfer
A one-way transfer covers one journey between two addresses: the arrivals hall to a hotel in Boavista, the terminal to the congress centre in the old customs house on the river, or the Leixões cruise terminal to the airport after you disembark. For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. For a departure, the pickup time you choose is confirmed with the reservation.
Round-Trip Service
Round-Trip Service books both directions in one reservation: the terminal to your Porto hotel as soon as you land, and from that hotel to the terminal again when you fly out. In high summer, and in weeks when a large congress fills the city, cars and drivers around Porto are taken long before the date, so fix the departure at the same time as the arrival. The pickup times you choose for both legs are confirmed with the reservation.
Hourly Service
Hourly service keeps one chauffeur and one vehicle with you for a set number of hours. When you book, you set the start at OPO, the final address and the hours you need, and you add the day's plan to the reservation so the chauffeur has it before your flight lands. It suits an arrival day with appointments, not a straight run to one hotel.

Porto Airport to Porto: Route and Drive Time

Porto Airport lies 15 km north-west of the city centre, on the Matosinhos side. The car takes the A28 towards the city and then the VCI, the inner ring road, as far as the exit for your district. The drive usually takes 30–40 minutes.

The distance is short; the VCI is what varies. At the weekday rush hours it is among the most congested roads around Porto, and a slowdown on it holds up every exit into the centre. On public holiday weekends it runs slower again. Boavista, the business district in the west, usually comes before Ribeira and the historic centre on the river, and an address near Campanhã station, on the eastern side, comes last.

Journey times vary with traffic and weather. Give the street address of your hotel together with the flight number, so the route is planned to the door rather than to the city.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Porto Airport

Porto Airport has one passenger terminal, with arrivals on the ground floor. There is no terminal to check before you fly: whatever the airline or the origin, you come out at the same level.

For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules. For a delegate with a session the same afternoon, this means the car is already accounted for whether the plane lands early or late; the only open question is how the VCI looks at that hour.

The airport is busy but well run. More than 16.9 million people passed through it in 2025, up 6.3% on 2024, and in ACI's Airport Service Quality awards its passengers have rated it Europe's best airport of its size.

Arriving at Your Address in Porto

Most visitors stay in one of two parts of the city. The historic centre, with many of the hotels, runs from Ribeira on the Douro up into the Baixa; offices and the business hotels are further west, in Boavista. The Alfândega Porto Congress Centre, in a former customs house on the riverbank, sits inside the historic centre and has a 1,200-seat auditorium.

The city applies one rule that matters for larger parties. On weekdays between 08:00 and 18:00, any passenger vehicle with more than nine seats needs prior city authorisation before it can drive into the Baixa or the historic centre. A Sprinter van counts as such a vehicle, so for a group staying in the centre send the address with the booking, and we will tell you where the group can be set down.

Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. For an apartment in the lanes above Ribeira, add the building number and the nearest square.

From Porto Back to Porto Airport

Leaving Porto, the useful thing to know is how long the road takes, not when to leave: 30–40 minutes from the centre to the terminal, longer in heavy traffic. The pickup time you choose is confirmed with the reservation.

At the airport end the departure is simple. With a single terminal, the drop-off does not depend on the airline, so there is nothing to decide on the approach road. The time goes on the way out of the city: the VCI at the weekday peaks sets the pace, and from Boavista the run is usually shorter than from Ribeira.

If your stay ends with a cruise, or starts with one, the Leixões cruise terminal is about 10 km from the airport on the same side of Porto. A disembarkation morning and a flight home can then be one short transfer that never enters the city centre.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your airport transfer with Bookinglane.

How long is the transfer from Porto Airport to the city centre?

The airport is 15 km from the centre of Porto. The car follows the A28 and then the VCI inner ring road, and the drive usually takes 30–40 minutes. The VCI at the weekday rush hours makes most of the difference.

How many terminals does Porto Airport have?

Just one, with arrivals on the ground floor, so every flight comes out at the same level. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet.

What happens if my flight to Porto is late?

The pickup moves with it: the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time.

Can a Sprinter van drop us in Porto's historic centre?

A Sprinter van has more than nine seats, and on weekdays from 08:00 to 18:00 such vehicles need prior city authorisation for the Baixa and the historic core. Send the full address with the booking, and we will tell you where the van can set the group down.

How far is the Leixões cruise terminal from Porto Airport?

About 10 km. The terminal is in Matosinhos, on the same side of Porto as the airport, so a transfer between a ship and a flight does not cross the city.

Our delegates land at Porto Airport on different flights. How do we book?

Each arrival is booked as its own transfer, and the car or van for each is picked by headcount and bags. If you book for others, the whole programme can sit in one account, and each transfer is booked and confirmed separately.
