Airport Transfers from Leonardo da Vinci International Airport (FCO) to Rome

One-Way Transfer
A one-way transfer covers one journey between two addresses: Terminal 3 to a hotel near Piazza Navona, Terminal 1 to La Nuvola in EUR, or your hotel in Trastevere to your departure terminal. For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. For a departure, the pickup time you choose is confirmed with the reservation.
Round-Trip Service
Round-Trip Service books both directions in one reservation: Fiumicino to your hotel in Rome on the day you land, and the hotel back to your terminal on the day you fly out. In the spring and autumn congress season it is worth fixing the return at the same time as the arrival, rather than at the end of the stay. You choose both pickup times, and your confirmation shows them.
Hourly Service
Hourly service keeps one chauffeur and one vehicle with you for a set number of hours. When you book, you set the start at FCO, the final address and the hours you need, and you add the day's plan to the reservation so the chauffeur has it before your flight lands. It suits an arrival day with appointments, not a straight run to one hotel.

Fiumicino to Rome: Route and Drive Time

Rome Fiumicino Airport lies 28 km south-west of the centre of Rome. The car leaves the terminal area on the A91, the motorway between the airport and the city, and joins the GRA ring road or continues towards the Tiber, depending on where you are staying. In normal traffic the drive to the historic centre takes 35–45 minutes.

The motorway itself is rarely what sets the time. The final kilometres do: the junctions around the GRA at the morning and evening peaks, and the city streets between the river and your hotel. A hotel in EUR, south of the centre, comes before the historic centre on the way in; an address on the far side of the city, towards Termini, takes longer.

Journey times vary with traffic and weather. The transfer is booked to the street address you give, not to "central Rome", so include the hotel with your flight number.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Fiumicino

Fiumicino has two passenger terminals in use. Terminal 1 handles domestic and Schengen flights, and Terminal 3 most international arrivals; Terminal 5 is closed for renovation, so arrivals are split between the other two. Your airline's booking shows which terminal you land at.

For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules. A delay on the way in, or an early landing, does not leave you looking for a new car.

The airport is in the middle of a long works programme. The railway station is being enlarged, and a new junction on the A91 is due in spring 2027. According to the airport operator, neither changes the arrivals halls or the pickup areas at Terminals 1 and 3.

Arriving at Your Address in Rome

Where the car sets you down depends on the street. The historic centre is a ZTL, a limited-traffic zone watched by camera gates, and since January 2026 a 30 km/h limit has also applied across the Centro Storico zone. Many addresses around Piazza Navona, the Pantheon and Via del Corso fall inside it, while hotels in Prati, Parioli and EUR are outside.

For congress guests, EUR is the easy case. La Nuvola, the Roma Convention Center, is about 20 km from Fiumicino, and the drive does not enter the centre at all. For a hotel inside the walls, send the full address with the booking and we will tell you the nearest point a car can reach.

Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. The same applies to the pickup for your return flight.

Arriving at Your Address in Rome

From Rome Back to Fiumicino

Leaving Rome, the useful thing to know is how long the road takes, not when to leave: 35–45 minutes from the historic centre to Fiumicino, longer in heavy traffic. The pickup time you choose is confirmed with the reservation.

Tell us your departure terminal when you book: Terminal 1 for flights within Italy and the Schengen area, Terminal 3 for most flights beyond it. The drop-off is then set at the right terminal and not decided on the approach road.

If your trip ends with a cruise from Civitavecchia and a flight home, the port is 67 km from Fiumicino, 1 hour to 1 hour 20 minutes on the A12. A disembarkation morning and an afternoon flight can be booked as one transfer from the ship to the terminal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your airport transfer with Bookinglane.

How long is the transfer from Fiumicino Airport to central Rome?

The airport is 28 km from the centre of Rome, and the drive on the A91 usually takes 35–45 minutes. The GRA junctions at rush hour and the streets near your hotel decide most of the difference.

Which terminal will I arrive at in Fiumicino?

Terminal 1 handles domestic and Schengen flights, and Terminal 3 most international ones. Your airline booking names the terminal, and your booking confirmation tells you where to meet.

What happens if my flight to Fiumicino is late?

The pickup moves with it: the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time.

My hotel is inside Rome's limited-traffic zone. Where will the car drop me?

It depends on the street. The historic centre is a ZTL with camera gates. Send the full hotel address with your booking, and we will tell you whether the car can reach the entrance or where the nearest drop-off point is.

Is Fiumicino or Ciampino better for a stay in Rome?

Ciampino is closer to the centre, 16 km against 28 km, but the drive differs by about ten minutes. Book the airport your flight uses. If the congress is in EUR, choose Fiumicino when you can.

Our delegates land at Fiumicino on different flights. How do we book?

Book each arrival as a separate transfer and choose the vehicle for that flight's passengers and luggage. If you book for others, the whole programme can sit in one account, and each transfer is booked and confirmed separately.
