Airport Transfers from Florence Airport Amerigo Vespucci (FLR) to Bologna

One-Way Transfer
A one-way transfer covers one journey between two addresses: Florence Airport to a hotel near Piazza Maggiore, the terminal to the BolognaFiere entrance for your stand, or a Bologna hotel to Peretola after the fair. For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. For a departure, the pickup time you choose is confirmed with the reservation.
Round-Trip Service
Round-Trip Service books both directions in one reservation: Florence Airport to your Bologna hotel on arrival, and the hotel back across the Apennines to Peretola for the flight out. In March, during Cosmoprof, fix both at once, because the fair week fills vehicles on every route into Bologna. You choose both pickup times, and your confirmation shows them.
Hourly Service
Hourly service keeps one chauffeur and one vehicle with you for a set number of hours. When you book, you set the start at FLR, the final address and the hours you need, and you add the day's plan to the reservation so the chauffeur has it before your flight lands. It suits an arrival day with appointments, not a straight run to one hotel.

Florence Airport to Bologna: Route and Drive Time

Bologna is 101 km north of Florence Airport, on the other side of the Apennines. The car takes the A1 north from Florence and crosses the mountains on the A1 Variante di Valico, the newer motorway route over the pass, before coming down to the Bologna junctions. The drive usually takes 1 hour 25 minutes to 1 hour 55 minutes.

The mountain section is well built, but it is where weather matters: fog, heavy rain and, in winter, snow can slow the crossing. On the Bologna side, the ring road and the approach to the centre carry heavy traffic at the peaks, and fair days add more around BolognaFiere.

Journey times vary with traffic and weather. With the flight number, give the hotel street or the fair hall; the centre of Bologna and the exhibition district are reached from different exits.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Florence Airport

A delegation for Bologna sometimes lands in Florence because a partner programme starts there, or because the flights fit better. For the person organising it, the arrival is easy to plan: there is one terminal, spread over two floors, and all passengers come out through one arrivals door, whatever their origin.

For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules. If three members of the delegation arrive on three flights, each car is tied to its own landing, and nobody sits in the hall for the last flight.

Give each traveller's flight number in the booking. Everyone comes out through the same door, which keeps the instructions you send the delegation short.

Arriving at Your Hotel or Fair in Bologna

Bologna's Sirio cameras check every entry into the historic centre, which is a ZTL. Hotels around Piazza Maggiore and the two towers are inside it; others stand on the ring road or near the station.

The fair district, BolognaFiere, lies north of the old town beside the tangenziale, with a dedicated A14 entrance, so a car from the motorway can reach the fair district directly. Its 375,000 m² hold 20 halls, reached through five different gates: tell us which entrance your badge or stand uses.

High-speed trains at Bologna Centrale use a separate station 23 m underground, entered from Via de' Carracci or from Piazza delle Medaglie d'Oro. Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up.

From Bologna Back to Florence Airport

Leaving Bologna, the useful thing to know is how long the road takes, not when to leave: 1 hour 25 minutes to 1 hour 55 minutes to Florence Airport, longer in heavy traffic. The pickup time you choose is confirmed with the reservation.

Southbound, the Apennine crossing comes first and the Florence junctions last. In winter, with snow forecast on the pass, pick a time with a margin for a slow pass. At Peretola there is only one terminal, so the drop-off needs nothing beyond the flight.

If your flight home leaves from Bologna Airport instead, 13 km from the centre, the return is a short run of 25–35 minutes and a separate booking.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your airport transfer with Bookinglane.

How long is the transfer from Florence Airport to Bologna?

The route is 101 km: the A1 north from Florence and the A1 Variante di Valico across the Apennines. It usually takes 1 hour 25 minutes to 1 hour 55 minutes; weather on the pass and the Bologna ring road decide most of the difference.

Should I fly into Bologna or Florence for a stay in Bologna?

Bologna, whenever you can: its airport is 13 km from the centre, 25–35 minutes by car. Florence is 101 km away and suits trips that also include Florence.

Can the car take me to BolognaFiere directly from Florence Airport?

Yes. Enter BolognaFiere as the destination and name the entrance on your badge; the exhibition district has five entrances and its own access from the A14.

My hotel is in Bologna's historic centre. Can the car reach it?

The centre is a ZTL watched by the Sirio electronic gates. Include the hotel's full address in the reservation, and we confirm whether the car can reach the entrance or where the nearest drop-off point is.

Our delegation lands in Florence on different flights. How do we book?

Each arrival is booked as its own transfer, sized for that flight's passengers and luggage. All flights at Florence Airport use the same arrivals exit, and each booking confirmation shows where to meet.

Is the drive over the Apennines affected by winter weather?

It can be. Fog, heavy rain and snow can slow the A1 across the Apennines. The chauffeur follows your flight on arrival; for the return, choose a pickup time that allows for a slower crossing.
