Málaga Airport to Marbella: Route and Drive Time
Marbella is 53 km west of Málaga Airport. The car takes the coast motorway, the AP-7, or the A-7 that runs alongside it, and passes Torremolinos and Fuengirola before the first Marbella exits. The drive usually takes 50 minutes to 1 hour 5 minutes.
Which part of Marbella you are going to changes that figure. The municipality covers 26 km of shoreline, with Guadalmina at its western edge. Cabopino, at the eastern edge, is the first district you reach from the airport; the old town and the Golden Mile are in the middle; Puerto Banús and San Pedro de Alcántara lie beyond them, on the side furthest from Málaga.
Journey times vary with traffic and weather. Add the full street address to your flight details, not just the town name: a villa in the hills above the Golden Mile and an apartment in San Pedro are two different drives.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Málaga Airport
Many Marbella guests land from outside the Schengen area. In 2025 the United Kingdom alone accounted for 6.15 million of the airport's 26.76 million passengers, and flights from the Gulf grew fastest, with the United Arab Emirates up 75.7%. If your flight began outside the EU, your cases come out on carousels 31 to 34, and customs is in the same baggage reclaim hall. The arrivals hall on floor 0 comes next.
For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules. So a long-haul connection through Dubai that comes in late is still met, at the new hour.
For a villa, add the gate code or the name of the private road to the booking before you board, so the chauffeur has it from the start of the drive.

Arriving at Your Address in Marbella
The addresses that bring people to Marbella are spread out: the old streets by the Plaza de los Naranjos, hotels and villas along the Golden Mile heading west, the marina at Puerto Banús, and about a dozen golf courses inside the municipal boundary. Both historic quarters, in central Marbella and in San Pedro Alcántara, lie inside a low-emission zone, with restrictions on vehicles that carry no environmental label, and the town council runs its own permit procedure for access to pedestrian or restricted streets.
Puerto Banús has a rule of its own. Vehicle entry to the marina passes through barriers run by the port operator, with an annual access card or a one-day pass for a single number plate. For a yacht or a restaurant on the quay, name it in the booking as well as the street.
Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. If the address is a golf club rather than the hotel, for a first round on arrival day, give the club's name.

From Marbella Back to Málaga Airport
Leaving Marbella, the useful thing to know is how long the road takes, not when to leave: 50 minutes to 1 hour 5 minutes to the departures hall, longer in heavy traffic. The pickup time you choose is confirmed with the reservation.
Your end of town matters on the way back as well. From San Pedro de Alcántara or Puerto Banús the car first crosses the rest of the municipality, while Cabopino already lies on the Málaga side. At the airport, check-in desks are on floor 1, one level above the hall where you arrived.
If you want a last night in Málaga before an early flight, the drop-off can be a hotel in the city instead. Málaga is about 61 km from Marbella and 8 km from the terminal, so the morning run to the airport becomes a short, separate booking.
