Ibiza Airport to Ibiza Town: Route and Drive Time
Ibiza Town is 7 km north-east of the airport, the shortest of the island's airport runs. The car follows the EI-800 airport road towards the town and comes in along Avinguda d'Espanya to the new town around Vara de Rey. The drive usually takes 10–20 minutes.
Here the distance is not what sets the time. The Consell d'Eivissa's counts show summer traffic in July and August about a third higher than across the year, and much of it uses the airport road and the EI-20 ring road around the town. At the end, the time depends on the address: the harbour front, the walled town on the hill or the marinas on the far side of the bay.
Journey times vary with traffic and weather. Give the flight number when you book, and name the hotel or the ferry company, since hotels, ferries and marinas sit on different sides of the harbour.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Ibiza Airport
Ibiza Airport works from one terminal, and its arrivals area is on the ground floor. Anyone arriving on a non-Schengen flight clears passport control first; everyone then collects bags from the ten carousels in the reclaim hall and leaves through the same exit.
For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules. With the town only 7 km away, an early landing simply brings the hotel, or the afternoon boat to Formentera, closer.
Aena plans more room at security and a separate boarding area for non-Schengen flights, as part of its 2027–2031 programme, with no start date announced. Both changes concern departures; the arrivals floor and the road into town stay as they are.

Arriving at Your Address in Ibiza Town
The town has distinct parts. Dalt Vila, the walled old town listed by UNESCO, stands on the hill; La Marina and the port lie below it; the early twentieth-century extension spreads around Vara de Rey; and the marinas at Botafoch face the old town across the harbour. Dalt Vila and La Marina are ACIRE restricted-access areas, controlled by plate recognition, and Puig des Molins was brought into the same system later. At the entrance to Dalt Vila a barrier lifts only for plates registered beforehand, and some streets inside the walls are stepped, so the last metres to an address there are on foot.
Ferries to Formentera leave from the maritime station on Avinguda de Santa Eulària des Riu, on the town side of the harbour. Mainland lines and cruise ships use Botafoc, about 12 km by road from the airport, 25–35 minutes.
Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up.

From Ibiza Town Back to Ibiza Airport
Leaving Ibiza Town, the useful thing to know is how long the road takes, not when to leave: 10–20 minutes to IBZ, longer in heavy traffic. The pickup time you choose is confirmed with the reservation.
If you are staying inside the walls of Dalt Vila, we will tell you the nearest pickup point outside the restricted area; allow for the walk down with your luggage. IBZ has a single terminal, so every airline's check-in is in the same building.
Coming back from Formentera for the flight, put the ferry company and the time the boat is due at Ibiza port on the booking, and pick a time that leaves room to get off with your bags. The fast boats take about 30 minutes, and the car goes from the harbour straight to the terminal.
