Airport Transfers from Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD) to Madrid

One-Way Transfer
A one-way transfer covers one journey between two addresses: Terminal 4 to an office tower in the Cuatro Torres Business Area, Terminal 2 to a hotel on the Gran Vía, or a hotel near Atocha back to Barajas. For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. For a departure, the pickup time you choose is confirmed with the reservation.
Round-Trip Service
Round-Trip Service books both directions in one reservation: Madrid-Barajas to a Madrid hotel on the day you land, and from that hotel to the right terminal group when the stay ends. Around FITUR in January and through the autumn fair season, cars in Madrid are spoken for early, so the departure leg is safer set on the day you book the arrival. You choose both pickup times, and your confirmation shows them.
Hourly Service
Hourly service keeps one chauffeur and one vehicle with you for a set number of hours. When you book, you set the start at MAD, the final address and the hours you need, and you add the day's plan to the reservation so the chauffeur has it before your flight lands. It suits an arrival day with appointments, not a straight run to one hotel.

Madrid-Barajas to Madrid: Route and Drive Time

Madrid-Barajas lies inside the city limits, 13 km north-east of the Puerta del Sol. From the terminals the car crosses the M-40 and then the M-30, the two orbital motorways, before it reaches the city streets. The transfer usually takes 25–50 minutes.

The distance hardly changes; the hour does. Madrid's own traffic reports place the weekday morning peak between 6 and 10 am, and it is the ring roads at those times, not the motorway out of the airport, that stretch the drive towards the upper figure. An address on the northern Castellana, around the Cuatro Torres or AZCA, comes first on the way in. The historic centre around Sol and the hotels near Atocha lie further south and take longer.

Journey times vary with traffic and weather. Give the street address with your flight number: a hotel on the Castellana and one in the Barrio de las Letras are different drives.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Madrid-Barajas

The five terminals at Barajas fall into two separate groups. T1, T2 and T3 stand side by side, linked by walkways inside the building; T4 and its satellite T4S form a complex of their own, about 10 km away by road. Iberia flies from T4. Check which group your flight uses: the car goes to that group's building, and the two groups are not a short walk apart.

For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules. If your airline switches your terminal after booking, tell us the new one so the car goes to the right group.

Aena plans a new processor building for T1–T3, a remodelling of those terminals and an extension of T4 and T4S, with most of the investment falling in 2027–2031 and later. For arrivals in 2026 and 2027 the layout above stays as it is.

Arriving at Your Address in Madrid

Madrid's low-emission zone takes in the entire municipality. Inside it, Distrito Centro, the historic core, is a special protection area where fewer vehicles are admitted. Many hotels around Sol, the Plaza Mayor and Huertas are inside that core, while those on the Castellana, in AZCA and near Chamartín are outside it. The rules concern the vehicle and the street, so the useful detail is the exact entrance of your hotel.

If the first address is a station rather than a hotel, Madrid has two high-speed terminals: Chamartín in the north and Puerta de Atocha in the south. Check your train ticket, because they are on opposite sides of the centre.

Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. For a hotel inside Distrito Centro, we will tell you the nearest point the car can reach.

From Madrid Back to Madrid-Barajas

Leaving Madrid, the useful thing to know is how long the road takes, not when to leave: 25–50 minutes from the centre to Barajas, longer in heavy traffic. The pickup time you choose is confirmed with the reservation.

Name your departure terminal when you book. T1, T2 and T3 share one drop-off area, and T4 is a separate complex about 10 km further by road, so the right group matters more here than at most airports. On weekdays between 6 and 10 am the ring roads are at their slowest, which is worth bearing in mind for a morning flight.

A trip that ends at IFEMA rather than in the city is shorter still: the fair ground is about 4 km from the airport. If your last meeting is in Toledo, 85 km from the terminals, that address can be the pickup for the flight home.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your airport transfer with Bookinglane.

How far is Madrid Airport from the city centre?

Madrid-Barajas is 13 km north-east of the Puerta del Sol, inside the city limits. The drive crosses the M-40 and M-30 ring roads and usually takes 25–50 minutes; the weekday morning peak, 6 to 10 am, accounts for most of the upper figure.

What is the difference between T1, T2, T3 and T4 at Barajas?

T1, T2 and T3 form one group of connected buildings, while T4 and its satellite T4S are a separate complex about 10 km away by road. Iberia uses T4. The terminal appears on your airline booking: give it when you book and the car goes to that building, and your confirmation tells you where to meet.

What happens if my flight to Madrid is late?

The pickup moves with it: the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. If the airline changes your terminal, send us the new one.

Can the car drop me at a hotel in central Madrid?

Madrid's low-emission zone covers the entire city, and Distrito Centro adds stricter rules on which vehicles may enter. Put the hotel's street and number in the booking; we then tell you if the car can pull up at the door or which corner nearby it will use instead.

How many airports are there in Madrid?

One commercial airport: Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas. It serves both the city centre, 13 km away, and the IFEMA fair ground, about 4 km from the terminals, so the decision that matters is the terminal group and the time of day.

Our exhibitors arrive at Barajas on different flights. How do we book?

Each arrival is booked as its own transfer, and the vehicle for each one follows that flight's headcount and luggage, sample cases too. If you book for others, the whole programme can sit in one account, and each transfer is booked and confirmed separately.
