Salzburg Airport to Kitzbühel: Route and Drive Time
Kitzbühel is 80 km from Salzburg Airport, and the direct road does not stay in Austria all the way. It crosses a corner of Bavaria, passing Bad Reichenhall on the German B21, and comes back into Austria towards Lofer. From there the B178 heads west to St. Johann in Tirol, where the B161 takes over for the final kilometres into town. The drive usually takes 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes.
Through Bavaria and along the B178 the car moves well. The time is decided at St. Johann and on the B161, where the roads from Munich and Innsbruck come in too; on a winter Saturday this common last section is the slow part of the trip.
Journey times vary with traffic and weather. If the address is in Aurach or Jochberg rather than in town, mention it when you book: both villages lie further south on the same valley road.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Salzburg Airport
For a Kitzbühel arrival, the travel documents your nationality and itinerary require belong in your hand luggage rather than in the hold. Early in the drive the car is already in Germany, which runs temporary checks at its internal borders until 15 March 2027, and such a check happens on the road, not at a desk inside the terminal.
The airport side is straightforward. Salzburg has two buildings, the main Terminal 1 and the Amadeus Terminal 2 that takes the extra winter Saturday charters, and both lead into one arrivals hall with a single exit. A board member off a scheduled flight and a ski party off a charter walk out through the same door.
For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules. The drive to an afternoon meeting at the K3 KitzKongress is then timed from the moment the wheels touch down.

Arriving at Your Hotel in Kitzbühel
Kitzbühel's old town has two parts, the Vorderstadt and the Hinterstadt, and the Hinterstadt is a pedestrian zone. Vehicles may enter it only between 06:00 and 10:00, so a car coming in from a midday landing cannot end at a hotel door inside it; the town sets those hours, not the vehicle. Hotels outside the old town, near the Hahnenkamm lift base or on the Horn side of the valley, are reached by road in the normal way.
Plenty of hotels marketed under the Kitzbühel name stand in Reith, Aurach or Jochberg, so check which village your booking confirmation names. For a chalet on a private lane, pass on any directions the owner has sent you.
Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. For an event at the K3 KitzKongress, beside the Hahnenkammbahn, the congress building itself can be the destination.

From Kitzbühel Back to Salzburg Airport
Leaving Kitzbühel, the useful thing to know is how long the road takes, not when to leave: 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes to Salzburg Airport, longer in heavy traffic. The pickup time you choose is confirmed with the reservation.
The return runs the same way in reverse: the B161 to St. Johann, the B178 towards Lofer and the Bavarian stretch before the airport, so keep your travel documents out of the packed cases on this leg as well. On a winter Saturday guests leaving and guests arriving share the B161, and that is when the longer figure applies.
Some charter departures on winter Saturdays check in at the Amadeus Terminal 2, which has its own check-in for ski equipment. Tell us the terminal your airline gives you, and the car takes you to that building. A last night in Salzburg before the flight is a separate transfer; the city is 5 km from the airport.
