Linz Airport to Salzburg: Route and Drive Time
Salzburg is 127 km west of Linz Airport, nearly every kilometre of it on the motorway. The airport at Hörsching lies close to the A1, the Westautobahn, and the car stays on it until the Salzburg exits. The drive usually takes 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours 5 minutes.
The motorway sets the pace here, not the city streets. Traffic around Linz at the start and near Salzburg at the end decides most of the range, and in winter the weather on the open stretch in between adds its share. Between 1 November and 15 April Austrian law requires winter tyres whenever conditions are wintry, and buses run on them all season whatever the weather.
The destination matters as well. The Messezentrum has its own exit on the A1, so a fair visitor is at the hall before reaching the city, while an address in the Altstadt means driving on into the centre. Journey times vary with traffic and weather.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Linz Airport
Landing at Hörsching is quick to navigate. The airport has a single passenger terminal, and both arrivals and check-in are on its ground floor, so passengers from every scheduled flight leave by one exit. For a two-hour drive to Salzburg, that makes the start of the journey the easy part.
For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules. If your plane lands early, the motorway leg simply starts earlier.
Chartered and private aircraft use a different building, the General Aviation Centre, which has its own check-in and customs. A Festival ensemble or a corporate party arriving on a charter comes out there, not at the terminal, so mention the charter when you book.

Arriving at Your Address in Salzburg
Coming from Linz, the city opens up in a particular order. The Messezentrum, with ten halls and its own motorway exit, is reached straight off the A1. Salzburg Hauptbahnhof lies north of the centre, and beyond it the hotels on the Linzer Gasse side and the Salzburg Congress next to the Mirabell gardens are on the right bank of the Salzach.
The Altstadt, across the river, is the part to plan for. Bollards guard most of its entrances, and some lanes are reserved for residents, deliveries and taxis, so a hotel inside the old town may have its set-down where the zone begins, a short walk from the entrance. The city's rules decide where a car may stop, not the vehicle.
Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up.

From Salzburg Back to Linz Airport
Leaving Salzburg, the useful thing to know is how long the road takes, not when to leave: 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours 5 minutes to Linz Airport, longer in heavy traffic. The pickup time you choose is confirmed with the reservation.
At the airport end there is only one passenger terminal to name, unless your flight is a charter or a private aircraft handled at the General Aviation Centre; mention it, and the chauffeur takes you to that building instead. On a winter day, choose the pickup with the A1 conditions in mind.
If your return flight is from Salzburg instead, the airport there is only 5 km from the centre, 10–20 minutes, and the Linz run is not needed at all. A trip that ends with meetings in Linz can also be split: Salzburg to your Linz address first, then the short transfer to Hörsching on the day you fly.
