Innsbruck Airport to Innsbruck: Route and Drive Time
Innsbruck Airport lies 5 km west of the city centre, on the valley floor beside the Inn. That makes it one of the shortest airport runs in the Alps: in normal traffic the drive into the centre takes 10–15 minutes.
Over so short a distance the hour of the day counts for more than the kilometres. Morning and evening traffic on the roads into town sets the upper end of the range, and an address across the centre, such as the Messe, or up the hill in Igls, adds a few minutes. The Altstadt itself is a pedestrian zone, so for a hotel inside it you walk the last part.
Journey times vary with traffic and weather. When you book, put the name of the hotel or the venue next to your flight number.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Innsbruck Airport
A delegation flying in for a congress in Innsbruck lands at a small, easy airport. There is one passenger terminal, a building from the 1964 Winter Olympics, with arrivals and departures under the same roof and aircraft boarded from mobile stairs rather than air bridges. Whichever airline the delegates use, they walk out into the same arrivals area.
For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules. A speaker whose connecting flight comes in late still goes straight on to the Congress.
Winter Saturdays look different. INN ranks in Europe's top three for winter charters and restricts slots on Saturdays through the season, so a city arrival on those days shares the terminal with ski groups heading for the valleys.

Arriving at Your Address in Innsbruck
Business in Innsbruck often comes down to two addresses. The Congress is next to the Hofburg, on the rim of the Altstadt, and the Messe, which has its own S-Bahn stop, holds the trade fairs; together, Congress Messe Innsbruck runs up to 500 events a year. A hotel by the Maria-Theresien-Straße or near the Hauptbahnhof is a short drive from the terminal.
The Altstadt is a pedestrian zone. For a hotel in its lanes, the car sets you down where vehicles are allowed to stop, and the rest is a short walk; which point that is depends on the street. For a stay in Igls, the drive carries on uphill once it has passed the centre.
Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up.

From Innsbruck Back to Innsbruck Airport
Leaving Innsbruck, the useful thing to know is how long the road takes, not when to leave: 10–15 minutes, longer in heavy traffic. The pickup time you choose is confirmed with the reservation.
With only one terminal, no airline changes where the car pulls up. The short run leaves room for the last session of a congress, or a final meeting in town, before the flight. On a Saturday in the ski season the terminal is at its busiest, because the charter groups leave the valleys on that day.
If your stay ends with a train rather than a flight, the Hauptbahnhof is on the Vienna–Zurich and Munich–Bolzano lines, and a transfer from the hotel to the station is booked in the same way. Flying home from Munich instead of INN means 204 km by road, 2 hours 15 minutes to 3 hours 5 minutes.
